CNBC’s top tech editor, Jon Fortt, recently named Plattner as one of the top 25 Media and Technology leaders of the past 25 years. "SAP is not a company that everybody is intimately familiar with, but this is the software that runs the back office of just about every huge business,” said Fortt. “There aren’t a lot of huge, multi-billion dollar software companies in Europe so he’s a very important figure in the history of technology.” Plattner joins perennial giants Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and newcomers like Mark Zuckerberg.
