After looking into the high level figures in the previous postings today we want to look into some more details. With an SAT (successor of SE30) a more detailed tracing is possible. As we are working in an HTML environment the setup is a bit special.

So let´s first look into the settings appropriate for tracing TM, you need to define a so called variant in transaction SAT:

As the traces are usually comparable big some settings on the first pare should be adapted, namely the trace size. Something which increases the trace file but helps a LOT in analysis of the trace is Aggregation setting. A non-aggregated trace is way better to understand what´s going on in the traced step.

The rest of the settings which are on the other tabs can remain untouched for normal tracing, they become relevant if you want to deep-dive into a certain method. This will be covered in a later posting...

Save the profile with a meaningful name and you are done with the first step.

So, that already it for today. Next posting will be about how to start the actual measurement  .
