Creation of FIORI Tile for analytic query generated by ABAP CDS view

Here is the step by step guide how to create a S4HANA Fiori Tile from Consumption ABAP CDS view.

Step1:

I’ve created a Consumption CDS view (Query View)

Step2:

using the SAP GUI TCDOE – /N/UI2/FLPD_CUST I’ve opened Fiori Customization Launchpad and from there choose the appropriate catalog. For eg I will create my Tile under the Catalog- “Analytics Query Browser”.

Step3:

Click on the + symbol below

Step4:

Choose App Launcher – Static

Step5:

Tile config page will open. Here we have to provide the Title,Subtitle, Icon,Semantic Object,Action, Parameters etc.

Step6:

Once above step is completed we have to go for – Target Mapping –> Create Target Mapping

Here in the Parameters we have to mention the SQL name of the consumption view prefixed with 2C<SQL NAME of Consumption View>. Once it’s saved then the Tile will be visible under the specified catalog.
Step7:

Tile is visible under the catalog – Analytics Query Browser.
We can open the report by clicking on the Tile.

Sorry, I must be missing something... There is a very easy way to do this via "Save as Tile" from the query. It's mentioned in this blog post.

I've not worked with these queries for some time and am not sure if what you're showing is something new or rather old. It seems a bit odd to use a SAP GUI transaction for this and even in the screenshot I see a message about "successor". This raises a suspicion that these steps might be outdated. It'd make sense to mention what environment you're using.

There are lots of questions and posts on this subject on SAP Community. For reference, here is a question from 2019 and a post from 2022 I found in Google. The latter seems to describe same steps but it ends with the catalog instead of starting from it. (My guess is that it works either way.)

It would be helpful if you elaborated on the subject. There is no explanation why these steps are done or what are the options. E.g. it just says "choose... Static" but why? What do other options do? Why are you using semantic object and where did you get that value?

If we create and save as a tile then it's not transportable, if we create tile using the steps as per blog the it's easily transportable
