How to save Variant in Transport

Hello SAP friends,

In this blog will see how to save Variant in Transport (TR) and Import to higher environments

  1. First go to T. code where you want to save the variant and save it in this example, I went to COHV and saved a variant

  1. Go to SA38 and give the Program name as my example is COHV and its program name is PPIO_ENTRY
  2. Click on Goto and click on variants as shown below
  3. Once you entered to this screen go Utilities->Transport request and select the variant you want to transport as shown below
  4. Once you selected required variants click continue it will ask for TR to save
  5. Once saved you can import to higher environments.

Thanks & Regards

I just learned from a colleague that there“s something to be careful about:

The saved variant should only be set up based on information available in all systems the transports go to.

Especially with master data a discrepancy between D, Q and P can lead to a variant not working (or worse affecting other data than intended) in target systems. Also if customized values like e.g. document types are not (yet) available this can lead to issues.
