Be mindful to use custom field(s) in Maintenance Plan or Item

Hi,

I would like to share some production limitation findings of EAM Asset Management function as S/4HANA public cloud Mining industry user:

There’s no mass update available to update custom field(s) created for Maintenance Plan and Maintenance Item. So please be mindful when thinking of creating custom field in maintenance plan/item.

Due to Mining industry requirements, our business has to use custom fields to capture additional attributes to Maintenance plan and item in S4HC Asset Management. Then we’re facing the challenges that there’s no way to mass/bulk update those custom fields after exploring options:

• no API available for mass update custom fields for Maintenance plan/item
• ‘Manage Maintenance plan’, ‘Find Maintenance plans‘ those Fiori Apps doesn’t support mass update custom fields.
• talked to S4HC product development team and product manager, there’s no solid plan on near future roadmap to do so

I think I’d better to share this information, in case you’re considering introducing a custom field to maintenance plan/item, be mindful that there’s product limitation on mass update.
