New ABAP Cloud Partner Certification Academy opens doors
Hi, ABAPers!
As it was announced in the blog Hey ABAPers, Get Ready for the Cloud Evolution of ABAP and Check Out the New Partner Enablement Offerings classic ABAP certifications and training programs have been retired as of July 31, 2023. Instead, new learning journeys and new certification, focused on ABAP Cloud were introduced:
Learning journeys:
Certification exam:
The 2 learning journeys and certification above target at building modern ABAP skills from scratch. In other words, it gives you an overview of the basic properties of the ABAP programming language (including ABAP Cloud) for a fresh non-ABAP programmer.
For those, who already know ABAP, let’s call them ‘classic’ ABAP developers, they will have a task to go through the whole learning content and find out new ABAP Cloud concepts themselves, which might take some time.
To address the needs of those classic ABAP developers and quickly help them to upskill to ABAP Cloud we designed a new ABAP Cloud Partner Certification Academy, where we carved out ‘classic’ stuff and concentrated only on new features.
Academy goes in 3 simple steps:
The Academy is held in virtual mode via 3 sessions x 3 hours each, led by experienced SAP instructors. Please see The Academy schedule below.
The Academy does not include hands-on exercises. Instructors will share some insights in demo mode. As a practical part of the Academy participants are welcome to do “click-through mode” offline exercises, which are part of above learning journeys and can be completed by participants in extra time outside of the sessions.
Optionally participants are offered additional “Ask the expert” session on a next week after they digest all received knowledge & complete exercises.
2. Review the content
It is important to highlight again, that Academy provides only delta content, while certification exam covers all topics ‘from scratch’. That is why it remains attendees’ responsibility to revisit and review the Learning Journey content to pass the certification exam. Being an experienced ABAP developer reviewing the content will not take much time and help to refresh the topics and techniques, which you probably did not use for some time.
3. Take the new certification test
Please note that learning journey content and certification exam questions change occasionally, and it is your own responsibility to ensure you are up to date with the latest learning content.
Participating in the academy will increase efficiency in learning for certification but does not guarantee automatically successful certification.
Costs
The Academy itself is an SAP investment in partner ecosystem and is free of charge for partners committed to certify participants. You should still have your certification attempt in place, unless there is additional promotion announced.
For Q4 2023 SAP provides free certification attempts to a significant number of partner participants to the Academy, based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To be eligible for a free certification attempt, register for the Academy using a valid S-user account, connected to an active partner ID. Nothing else needs to be done on your end. After final registration list cut-off, ONE certification attempt will be added to participants’ SAP Certification Hub S-user accounts, based on a first-come, first-serve basis. These participants will receive automatic email notifications, confirming that he/she was assigned a certification attempt, and will be able to see the certification attempt upon log in into LH. Please note that the offer is limited.

thanks Ekaterina. will check and let you know
Great blog, Ekaterina, thank you!
I am now in love with the ABAP RAP model as I now build more and more ODATA services or even involve myself in more and more Analytics developments, I am appreciating it. May be one needs to let go off the purist attitude that older model of doing things and considering it sacred and accept te new model. I still have a lot if issues I face working daily the ADT is slow, CDS gives me headache because in #Hierarchy there is no rep key in #Dimensions there are , some where end with ; somewhere nothing . it's just too much to remember and then the horrible list of annotations and poor SAP documentation that needs to improve. None of my RAP actions worked at one go 🙁
Ah I loved the simple types as well thank god finally it's there. Hopefully with generative AI the need to remember annotations will be less. It's good loved the TechEd Bangalore though it was less ABAP and more on AI. and looking forward to getting ABAP Cloud certified. It's time to get the second certification because days of the classic ABAPer is over now.
I am enjoying it ... it's challenging but I am enjoying it. I still hope apart from my other Wishlist, we still have a module pool or the WebIDE WYSIWYG kind of a UI palette to build UI applications.
Thank you for your thoughts!
