Creation of Capacity Documents Based on Requirement Groups in SAP TM
Do you know about this functionality?
This is a background way to create Creation of Capacity Documents (FO/FB/TU/CO/PU) Based on Requirement Groups, basically what you do in the Cockpit but in background process.
You can use this function to create capacity documents based on requirement groups. You can use this function instead of creating capacity documents manually in the transportation cockpit.
This have been introduced in S4 2022 and new adoption is release in S4 2023.
In this blog will explain this topic and how to do it.
Using the report /SCMTMS/PLN_REQ_STAGE_GROUP
You will need to create:
Requirement grouping profile.
Selection profiles
Planning profile
First you need to create your Group profile which give by standard different field.
IF these values do not match your requirements, you can add other in the customizing.
Transportation Management – Planning – General Settings – Define Grouping Rules for Requirement Grouping
My example I use the creation for TU and FO based on the Source Location of Stage.
Very important that you create a Capacity Document Creation Settings to be able to assign your grouping profile and how your Capacity documents will be created.
After these steps create a Planning profile and assigned the previous Capacity Document Creation Settings into it.
Now to go the report /SCMTMS/PLN_REQ_STAGE_GROUP using SE38 transaction.
Now I run and created a Trailer Unit for my FU’s:
After running a Log show up for the execution also available under SLG1 under Object /SCMTMS/TMS Subobject PLN
Results in Trailer Unit Creation
Now run the report again for the FO creation
We see the FO created:
Refer to standard.

Hi Rogerio,
great blog - thanks a lot!
Do you know if planning based on those groups/grouping rules will be part of basic shipping? Or do you need the advanced license here?
Thanks!
Best Regards,
Chrstoph
Hello Christoph,
I suggest to you check with the Oss Note 3289248 - Auditing TM vs. Advanced TM also with SAP sales team involved in your project. Part of basic vs Advanced capabilities are involved not only this part of creation but also which type documents you use. Like TU is advanced.
Regards
Rogerio
