Exploring the Benefits of Multiple Specifications in Inspection Lot Creation

Purpose


Multi-Specification Inspection in SAP allows you to inspect a batch of material against multiple inspection specifications. It’s helpful in case you want to test with groupings for various clients or various country prerequisites, each with its own specific requirements.

 

One of the primary conditions of this step is multiple specifications, and these many specifications could be customer requirements, Pharmacopeia or regulatory needs, country-specific legal requirements, or internal business needs.

 

For example, a business could have a production process making an item for several clients where each one would have its very own particular limit. In this way, the company could generate one inspection plan with multiple specifications and design a separate Inspection Plan for each customer. Once an inspection lot is opened at the creation time of such a batch of material, it would then allow the inspector to choose the relevant specs to deliver that material to that customer.

 

Another example is a manufacturing company that operates in various geographies and has different regional regulations for its product offerings. The company may develop an inspection plan into which many of these multiple specification documents are inserted — in effect, one inspection plan per region. When making an inspection lot for a batch of goods, the inspector may define the appropriate specifications of the region to which the batch will ship.

 

 

Different quality criteria can be verified in multiple specifications to test batches of materials simultaneously. For example, a company can make a product where the quality differs. The company could even build one Inspection Plan containing multiple specifications (one per level). When creating an inspection lot to evaluate a material batch, the inspector may choose the relevant specifications for your material type.

On the screen that appears, make sure the “Multiple Specifications” box is checked.

Note

  • The following three object types are provided as standard
    1. customer
    2. Country
    3. Pharmacopoeia
  • Do not change system-defined object types. However, to meet your company’s business needs, you can create new object types If you want to create your own object type, be sure to specify two class characteristics (one for “ok” and one for “not ok”) and the field names of the EWB

 

 

Note

  • For this example,use Object Type 01 for Country. Notice that the system uses Class characteristics for acceptable (OK) and unacceptable (Not OK) characteristics.
  • You can use Transaction CT04 to display the structure of these class characteristics.

Note

  • You create four new countries, which are basically the object (Mult. Specs), and assign Object Type 01 (for the country) and the relevant country key in the Ctr column.

Note:

You may want to select a multi-spec record view. In this case, multi-spec data will be displayed to you once you start recording results. If you select another record view, multiple sizes of data can be displayed in the results record; however, when you enter a result record, multiple entries are not the first thing you see.

 

5. Define Default Values for Inspection Type

Note:

  • You can make default settings for each test type, which are available when assigned to the material master. These default settings save time and effort when assigning or unassigning values ​​individually or checking or unchecking checkboxes. Normally you use the SAP default values.

  • Note that this flag only affects the default setting of the MS flag in the material master inspection settings. If you do not set this flag in the standard value of the inspection type, you can still set the MS flag in the material master itself.

 

Master Data Settings for Multiple Specifications

  1. Create a material master (MM01):

    • Activate the indicator “Batch management” in the view “Sales: general/plant, Purchasing”

 

    •  Activate the inspection type (01) in QM view and make sure the indicator “Multiple Specs” is set.

2. Create a batch class (CL01)

    • which contains the “ok” and the “not ok” class characteristics for the Country MS object type.

    •  In the “Classification veiw” assign class type (023) and the batch class CL_BATCH_MS

4.Create an inspection plan (CWBQM)

    • On the  “Headers general” tab, enter details such as Material, Plant, Task list Type,…. Then Enter Load Task lists.

    • To add samples, enter the inspection point and sample procedure in the “Quality management” tab.

    • To enable multiple specifications for the inspection plan, go to the Quality Management tab. Scroll right until you see the “Multiple Specs” column. Check ​​the boxes for your inspection plan.

  • Create Material Task List

    • To include multiple specifications objects in an inspection plan, you must create a separate material-task list assignment for each object.

    • To do this, select the entire line of the inspection plan and go to Task Lists -> Material Task List Assignments, or click the light bulb icon under the Material column.

    • In the Material Task List Assignments dialog box, enter the material, the MS object, and the MS object type in the corresponding fields.

  • Note that depending on the MS object type, you may need to enter the MS object in the MS object, customer, or search field.

  • Create Dependent Characteristics specs

    • Select the inspection function and select Task Lists->Spec-Dependent from the menu.

    • In the “Dependent Characteristics General Specifications” tab, declare the MS objects for which you want to maintain individual quantitative or qualitative specifications.

      I did all of the above steps, using my own MS Object. But I am getting a failed result for an MS point even though my result is within its limits.
