We are SAP Builders: Event Recap
On September 5th, builders from different locations and backgrounds came together to learn and connect during Builders Beyond Code in Berlin. In this blog post, I’ll share with you a recap of the event, the main takeaways and how you can become an SAP Builder too.
Starting off strong, participants learned about the benefits low-code technology offers to companies. Sebastian Schroetel, VP for SAP Build, shared how customization is changing the game in many areas, especially in software development, and how it can be key to tailor ERP systems to customers’ requirements. He also highlighted the importance for companies to keep the core clean when extending their SAP S/4HANA system, and how SAP Build can help them achieve that.
Another special guest directly from Israel, developer advocate Daniel Wroblewski, introduced SAP’s low-code portfolio sharing his own experience with the products, and what’s in it for the users. He also showed us live how to create:
✅ an application with data from SAP S/4HANA using SAP Build Apps,
✅ a process with SAP Build Process Automation that pulls and updates data in SAP S/4HANA,
✅ an automation leveraging pre-built content from the SAP Build store.
The speakers were then joined by SAP Build experts Merituuli Melkko, senior developer, and Evgenii Gorbunov, product manager. In the panel, they answered questions from the audience onsite and online on multiple topics, from technical capabilities and use cases, to scalability and implementation. Their answers as well as the insightful talks and demos can be watched on the SAP Build LinkedIn channel:
In the second half of the event, this diverse group of builders onsite – which was composed of ABAP developers, consultants, students, and IT managers from Germany, Mexico, Finland, and other countries – had the opportunity to explore SAP Build in a hands-on session in which they created an end-to-end process for sales order management and built:
➡️ an app to enter order details with SAP Build Apps
➡️ an automation for sales order processing with SAP Build Process Automation
➡️ a central workspace for the sales organization with SAP Build Work Zone
To celebrate the successful building session, participants received their exclusive SAP Builders hoodies, enjoyed some cold drinks, and then wrapped up the event networking with peers and the product team.
