My Top Features in August 🔝

August 2023 covered two new releases for SAP Datasphere with 2023.17 and 2023.18.
Here are my top 3️⃣:

➡️ Constant Selection

For restricted measures in the analytic model, you can now enable constant selection – a feature well known for many with SAP BW background. Enabling constant selection is useful for comparing a single value with several different values, while the single value should stay constant with further filtering or drill-downs.
For example, you could create a restricted measure for sales in 2022, and then compare sales in 2022 with sales for all other years in the same table. Your sales in 2022 will remain constant and will not be impacted by filters or drill-downs.

➡️ Partitioning of local tables

You can now create partitions based on one column of your local table to break your data down into smaller tables, and better manage tables with large volume of data. Partitioning has been part of Datasphere for quite some time for remote tables and persisted views, and now also for local tables.

➡️ Column level details in catalog

A new details tab is now available showing detailed metadata about the asset, which can include columns, attributes, measures, dimensions, and properties specific to each data object.
