Concento RDG Simplifies Creating Multi Value Derivation rules with Comparison Operators
Concento Rapid Data Governance (RDG ) is an SAP certified Cloud -based UI5 application which automates the MDG activities like Data Model maintenance, Designing Workflows, Managing Business rules, Configuring fields and interface configuration. This data governance tool will helps the users to accelerate the implementation and maintenance of MDG.
This blog is a Part of series which covers another important Key Feature that is provided by Concento RDG.
To create rules in BRF+, the user have to perform the below mentioned steps.
- Select the relevant Catalog to define the rule( FMDM_MODEL_<DATA_MODEL> ).
- Create a Function.
- Add context parameters to the created function.
- Create Ruleset.
- Create Rule.
- Define conditions for which the rule is triggered.
- Define the Action when the condition is met.
Concento RDG makes it easier for creating rules in BRF plus by automating all the configuration steps .
Users have to mention the condition, and what is the action item defined on that condition.
In the below example, you can find how to create multi value derivation Rules by using comparison operators.
Step 1 : Log on to RDG Screen and Click on “Manage Business Rules ” tile.

Step 2 : After entering the “Manage Business Rule” , select the Change Request type from the dropdown. Select the entity for which the rule has to be created and select the type of rule from the dropdown.

- Multi Value Derivation Rule using comparison operators :
In this example, we take MATERIAL ( Basic Data ) as our entity for MM Data Model.
Steps for Creating Multi value derivation Rule:
Step 1 : Select “MATERIAL” entity from entities and from the dropdown, select “Multi value Derivation “.
Step 2 : Click on “Add Driving Attribute”. Enter the details for Entity (MATERIAL ) and Attribute (BRGEWMARA – Gross Weight) in the pop up window. Click on Add Column.
Step 3 : Add on more attribute by Clicking on “Add Driving Attribute” . Give Entity = “MATERIAL “, Attribute = ” NTGEW – Net Weight ” and click on Add column.
Step 4 : Click on “Add Deriving Attribute “. Enter Attribute = “GROES – Size/Dimensions” and click on Add column.
Step 5 : Now click on add “Add Rule” . A row will get enabled.
Step 6 : Give the input values with comparison operators (BRGEWMARA = 100 and NTGEW = 200 and select the “Work flow steps” , click on formula table, pop up window appears . .
Step 7 : Select Mathematical Formula as a type under dropdown. Then enter the Condition.
Step 8 : Here our Condition is “Size/Dimensions” should be the multiplication of NET WEIGHT and GROSS WEIGHT. So, Enter Type as ” Mathematical Formula” , click on “Add” enter the details for Entity , Attribute and Operator and save it.
Formula Table :

Step 8 : Similarly, You can add as many rules as you want , based on the business requirement. The Figure mentioned below will refer to the number of rules that were added in this example.

Derivation rule that is created on RDG screen is going to be triggered when we select the relevant change request type.

Hi Akhila,
I checked out the MDG related links - they are pretty old. Referring to blogs created in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
With regards to Data Quality Management MDG provides a lot of 'new' functionality (starting with OP2019).
Regards, Sabine
