What’s New in SAP Analytics Cloud Q3 2023

SAP Analytics Cloud brings together analytics and planning with unique integration to SAP applications and seamless access to heterogenous data sources. It helps everyone in your organization make decisions without doubt with trusted insights and integrated plans.

This blog post introduces the new features and enhancements of the SAP Analytics Cloud Q3 2023 Quarterly Release (QRC). Q3 QRC updates will take place August 18-20, 2023. View the QRC release schedule here.

Join our SAP Product Experts in the video below as they demonstrate some of the features highlighted in Q3 2023.

System Administration and Technical Requirements

Although not required, you may upgrade to the latest SAP Analytics Cloud agent version 1.0.381 to take advantage of all data acquisition types.

The agent’s minimum version remains at 1.0.75, with the following exceptions:

  • Version 1.0.99 for SAP ERP/SQL Database
  • Version 1.0.365 for SAP universe (UNX). The SAP Analytics Cloud agent requires additional setup steps, for more details see SAP Note 3262098
  • Version 1.0.353 for SAP Business Warehouse (BW)
  • Version 1.0.235 for SAP HANA View
  • Version 1.0.248 for File Server

For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

Important: With every quarterly release update, there are required updates for the integration of SAP BW with SAP Analytics Cloud via SNOTES. This will ensure that the SAP BW back and font ends are in sync. To learn which SNOTES are required for implementation, refer to the XML-File attached in SAP Note 2541557.

Regarding supported features and required updates for live universe access through SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect with SAP Analytics Cloud, refer to SAP Note 2771921 for further details.

Please download the latest version of the Simple Deployment Kit from Service Marketplace.

Note: To avoid downloading older versions and potentially exposing users to a vulnerable bundling of the Cloud Connector with SAPJVM, or Apache Tomcat, only the three latest versions of the kits are available to download.

For Cloud agent version change management details, refer to SAP Note 3264839.

Release Highlights

Feature Category Naming Update

Before we dive in, you may have noticed two new feature categories listed in the release highlights, road map, and product plan. As we have now merged Story and Analytical Application, we have now renamed the categories as:

  • Dashboard & Story Design is now Story Design
  • Analytic Design is now Story Extensibility

Administration and Service Management

Exposure of SAP Analytics Cloud workspaces in the admin overview tool

Users can now see monitor and manage workspaces easier with the ability to see an overview of workspaces in the administration cockpit. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

License Usage Limits

We are introducing an important change to license usage limits in SAP Analytics Cloud.

To learn more about these changes, check out the following blog posts:

Support User Advanced Feature for SAP HANA Live Connection

By enabling this feature, support users will be granted access to the SAP HANA live data connection using the credentials provided by the customer.

Default SAP Support User Role Enhancement

Administrators can now specify the Default SAP support user role at a more granular level. This will better facilitate the handling process for Support User role requests.

Data Integration

Expanded connection sharing to more connection types

Expands connection sharing to all connection types, except export to file server and Salesforce software. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Enterprise Planning

Data Actions – Copy Data from Tracing Table

Users can now copy data from within a tracing table and paste it into another application, such as a spreadsheet for example. This makes keeping track of different changes easy to manage for a deeper analysis. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Multi Actions – extended messaging support for story APIs

The system will now return detailed error and warning codes when multi-actions are executed through an API from a story. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Mobile Analytics

Support for standard live connectivity to SAP S/4HANA on the Android app

Android mobile app users can now access live SAP S/4HANA On-Premise data using a standard SAP S/4HANA live (SAML SSO) connection. This update closes feature gap parity with the iOS mobile app. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Hi Megan Hoy what a giant update! Congratulations.

Would there be any more information on the item "Expanded connection sharing to more connection types"
I can't seem to find that functionality in the product and don't see anything in the release notes.

Ok, it wasn't very clear to me, but now I assume this is about import connections & import jobs only.
Live connection sharing options are still not possible.
