Purpose
Hello SAP Community colleagues!
This blog introduces two new
Data Integration features within SAP Analytics Cloud that will be available as part of the QRC Q3 2023 release. View the QRC release schedule
here.
Overview
The Data Integration team are delighted to announce two further updates to the
Data Import Service.
- Data Import API – Master Data Public Dimensions
The
Data Import API has been extended to now support
Public Dimensions.
- Data Import API - Currency
The
Data Import API has been extended to support
Currency data. This compliments the
Data Export API Currency Support, released recently in the QRC Q2 2023.
Let’s take a closer look at these new features.
1. Data Import API – Master Data Public Dimensions
The
Data Import API is an Open HTTP based API allowing for the import of data from external systems into models within SAP Analytics Cloud. This API was released in QRC Q2 2023 to initially support the import of
Fact and
Master Data for
local dimensions, from external sources into SAP Analytics Cloud models, containing both measures and accounts. See my previous blog,
What’s New in SAP Analytics Cloud Data Integration QRC Q2 2023 Release.
As part of QRC Q3 2023 release, the
Data Import API has been extended to also support the import of
Public Dimensions data.

Data Import API Public Dimensions functionality exposed under the /publicDimensions endpoints.

Create and
Update of dimension members is supported.
The API also supports JSON file format and OAuth 2-legged (machine to machine) and 3-legged (business user) scenarios.
Note that the import of
Data Access Control information and public dimension data containing
hierarchies is not supported with this release.
You can find out more about
Data Import API, by going to the
SAP Business Accelerator Hub and typing
Data Import Service in the search bar. Latest features will be reflected in the API documentation from QRC Q3 2023 release.
2. Data Import API - Currency
The
Data Import API has been extended to support
Currency data. This compliments the
Data Export API Currency Support, released recently in the QRC Q2 2023.
The key feature is that it allows technical users to import currency data from external systems into a SAP Analytics Cloud
Currency Rates Table.

Data Import API Currency functionality exposed under the /currencyConversions endpoints.

These combined
Data Export and Data Import APIs provide performance improvements to the newly refactored
Currency Rates Table for our
Cloud Foundry customers due to delta loading capabilities and server-side sorting and filtering options.
Together, they create powerful bi-directional workflow of
Currency data.

Currency Rates Table, check out
