On March 28, we hosted two live product expert sessions on spaces and pages and My Home in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition as part of the In-Depth with SAP S/4HANA series.

Thank you to kattia.jordan-philipp, caroline.welsh, and sylvie.charpentier for sharing their knowledge with customers, partners, and colleagues.

Missed the sessions? Watch the recording on demand!

We would like to also thank the many participants for joining both sessions and for asking your valuable questions. In the following, you can find answers to open questions as well as a summary of the most relevant information:

Q: If we currently use custom spaces and pages, and users have modified them on their side, and we now switch to SAP-delivered spaces and pages, will the user favorites dissappear?
A: In this case, the personalization disappears. Personalization on custom spaces does not remain when switching to SAP-delivered spaces.

Q: Is SAP Start the new name for SAP Fiori launchpad or is it something different?
A: SAP Start, part of the SAP Build Work Zone suite, is SAP’s new out-of-the-box central entry point that gives users a powerful, yet simple home page experience when adopting SAP’s cloud solutions. It will be GA in Q3/2023 and will include:

  • Search for apps from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition and SuccessFactors

  • To Dos from all SAP cloud solutions

  • Insights from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition and SuccessFactors

Q: How long before a "recent" application/tile does not appear in the "recent bucket" of tiles?
A: The concept of “recent” application is managed directly from the system and will follow its rules regarding the categorization.

Q: We can see the frequently used apps in My Home but is there any option to group the app in My Home?
A: There is currently no option to group to Frequently Used or Favourite apps.

Q: Currently only 8 pages are allowed in My Home, will this restriction be removed in the future?
A: There's no plan to have more than 8 favorites pages pinned in your Pages section for now.

Q: How can we move the space order according to my wishes? It seems that space order cannot be changed?
A: In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302, there's no possibility to change the sort order for end users. We are currently working on this and plan a solution in the future.

Q: Can you please also share a guide or link on how spaces and pages works on the on premise system?
A: Documentation on spaces and pages in SAP S/4HANA

Q: How can we remove the whole catalog, observed that there is no option to remove or delete catalog?
A: That is correct, there is no option to delete a catalog in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition.

Q: With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2308, existing SAP-delivered spaces might be changed/updated. Does the customer need to take action on this after the upgrade?
A: For SAP-delivered spaces, any enhancement by SAP will be automatically available.

Q: Will the sections shown in My Home come by default or do we need to maintain this?
A: All the 4 sections of My Home (To Dos, Pages, Apps and Activities and Insights) are coming by default, depending on your role, e.g. if your role doesn't require you to access the My Inbox and My Situation apps, you won't see the To Dos section.

Q: Can we edit the page content in SAP-delivered spaces?
A: An end user can add and remove tiles from the SAP-delivered spaces if they are allowed to personalize.

Q: How many pages can be added to a space and how many sections can/should be added to a page? Is there any best practice?
A: There's no restriction on the number of pages or sections to be assigned. However, as spaces and pages aim at a lean and sorted approach, we recommend to not "overload" them. The best practice is to not assign more than 5 pages or sections.

Q: Can we move only Quality system and not Productive system? Is there a way to keep Productive in groups and Quality spaces and pages even when doing the transport?
A: Launchpad settings are configured per tenant, however, please note that new systems will be provisioned with specific settings. For details, kindly refer to the SAP Note 2970113 – SAP S/4HANA Cloud: Replacement of SAP Fiori launchpad Home Page by Spaces and Pages / Provisioning of New Systems.

Q: Can My Home be created by an admin and published to other end users? Or should each end user modify their own My Home if necessary?
A: The administrator can parameter some parts of My Home, like the News feed, icons, colors. End-users will also have the possibility to parameter their My Home page (favorites, position of the different sections, etc.).

Q: When moving from groups home to My Home, can we keep our existing bookmarks and saved tiles?
A: Yes, you will keep your bookmarks after the migration: the My Home checks the type of apps you bookmarked and divides them in two parts: Normal apps or links will go to the Favorites section, Dynamic and Smart Business tiles will go to the Insights Tiles section.

Q: How can you configure the News feed on My Home?
A: The administrator can activate the News feed and define the RSS feed using Adapt UI in the User Actions menu. You will find more information on SAP Help.

Q: Do spaces always need to be assigned to a business role or can they be assigned directly to a user? Also, can users customize launchpad on their own or admin has to do it for them?
A: Spaces with its page(s) are assigned to one or several business roles. The business roles are assigned to the user(s). It is not possible to assign spaces directly to users. Admins can customize for all users. End-users can personalize their pages for themselves if personalization is allowed.
