This month’s edition features innovation highlights for the Data & Analytics, Integration and Application Development capabilities of SAP Business Technology Platform. The innovations outlined below enhance the capabilities of the platform and therefore support more advanced business scenarios. I don’t want to spoil the video, but increased flexibility, maximum availability and cost efficiency are highlights in SAP HANA Cloud. Customization and complex integration scenarios are easier to define in SAP Integration Suite. Harmonization and out-of-the-box integration is in store for SAP Cloud Transport Management. Data & Analytics Innovations on SAP BTP

Performance Classes and Near-Zero Downtime Operations with SAP HANA Cloud

When using a cloud managed database-as-a-service, you need a product that best serves your individual needs and adapts to your business scenario without breaking the bank.

With the introduction of the so-called “Performance Classes” in SAP HANA Cloud on SAP BTP, you now have the possibility to benefit from different core-to-memory ratios, running for instance more compute intensive scenarios with less memory overhead. The four different performance classes provide you with greater flexibility and cost efficiency for your database layer.

But that’s not just it: Changing your instances configuration or performance class can now be performed with near zero downtime, running an instance takeover instead of a restart. Doing so, you will experience only minimal impact for your business and a maximum of availability.

Advanced Scheduler in Cloud Integration Capability of SAP Integration Suite

Scheduler or Timer-based integration is a common enterprise integration pattern that helps you to configure a business process to automatically start and run on a particular schedule.

These schedules can be as simple as running once or repetitively on a specific date and time to more complex ones like running on 1st and 3rd Monday, of every month at 6 AM IST time zone.

With the new version of the Timer flow step in the Cloud Integration capability of SAP integration Suite that ispowered by SAP BTP, you can now define a more complex and granular schedule for your business processes.

Timer Flow Step - Advanced Scheduler

In the Advanced section of the Timer flow step, you can now define a schedule by combining the different units of time measurement, like CRON expressions. For example, with this you can define the last day of the month, every few minutes, between certain hours, and so on.

Integration of SAP BTP, ABAP environment with SAP Cloud Transport Management

In the world of DevOps, we know how beneficial it can be for engineers working on SAP Business Technology Platform to leverage a harmonized central approach, instead of setting up and configuring everything for each use case individually.

Therefore, we are very happy to welcome a new member to the SAP Cloud Transport Management family: the SAP BTP, ABAP environment, also known as ‘Steampunk’.

Content Type - BTP ABAP

Thanks to this update, you can create a transport request based on a Git Commit ID from the Software Component Management App inside the ABAP environment. When this transport request is imported, the content is retrieved from the central source code repository and deployed to the target environment.

This integration also allows us to handle SAP BTP, ABAP environment transports with SAP Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM.
