In mid-January, SAP Signavio Process Explorer became generally available to the market. The solution, now accessible from our website, represents for our customers the gateway to explore a myriad of value accelerators and resources that can help  speed up  transformational programs. Customers can transform faster and smarter by referencing more than 7,000 process models, capability maps for 20 business domains, metrics, products recommendations and much more.

As described in my previous blog, content featured within SAP Signavio Process Explorer, - now largely authored by SAP -, will be further and progressively expanded with content from selected SAP partners, including Fujitsu, who is enthusiastically supporting the initiative.

I recently met Robert Weller, Head of Value Accelerators Delivery at SAP Signavio, and Lincoln Kirsten, Global SAP Transformation Executive at Fujitsu, and discussed with them the importance of socializing content and best-practices, what we plan to achieve together in this area and the benefits that our customers can expect from this combined effort. In this blog, I would like to share my findings.

Why invest in content and value accelerators

Studies suggest that upwards of 70% of transformations fail, with the lack of direction and governance being typical reasons for project costs and times overruns. More than ever companies are under pressure to transform, but often struggle to mark a clear innovation trajectory, do not know exactly where to start or where to go next, their projects often go off the rails and lose momentum. Robert explained during our meeting, that in this scenario, the ability for customers to access content that inspires and provides guidance, can play a differentiating role to these organizations. He said: “Our commitment is not only to provide our customers with the best technology to support their transformation journey, but also with ideas, recommendations, guidelines – content indeed – which can help them avoid the complexity of starting from a blank slate. With the launch of SAP Signavio Process Explorer, all this knowledge is now accessible to them at the push of a button.”

The power of the community

SAP Signavio Process Explorer organizes and centralizes the collective knowledge from thousands of transformation projects delivered by SAP and its partner ecosystem. Our vision is to collaborate with partners who are innovators in their specific domain to build-up a community of process and technology experts who share best-practices, shape new trends and embrace a culture of value co-creation. Lincoln Kirsten, who is responsible at Fujitsu for leading the SAP Signavio projects globally, commented during our meeting: “The community aspect of SAP Signavio Process Explorer is something that can truly help unleash the power of ‘collective intelligence’. When we combine SAP solutions and experience with industry expertise and intellectual property from partners like Fujitsu, and start to share this information within the community, an enormous amount of knowledge and expertise will be leveraged and amplified, resulting in substantial benefits for all participants.”

Fujitsu and their role as content-creator

Fujitsu is one of the frontrunners partners who have started to contribute to SAP Signavio Process Explorer as content creators. SAP and Fujitsu's partnership goes back more than 40 years. During this period, the two companies have served hundreds of customers around the world, by providing end-to-end solutions and services that combine SAP software with Fujitsu’s industry expertise and their global SAP delivery capability.

According to Robert, Fujitsu can deliver a tremendous wealth of experiences and knowledge to the community due to its dual nature of manufacturer and IT service provider.

Lincoln further explained: “As a leading global manufacturer itself, and one of the top IT service providers in the world, Fujitsu incorporates its extensive expertise in lean manufacturing and sustainable processes into our service offerings, which include a vast amount of intellectual property (IP), project accelerators, and industry templates that directly benefit our customers. Our mission is to help them achieve the greatest business impact at the lowest cost by using SAP technology and our industry-specific solutions.

SAP Signavio Process Explorer provides the right platform for us to execute on that mission.”

What’s in store for you

Currently, SAP and Fujitsu are collaborating on a number of initiatives aiming at creating solutions and accelerators that will help customers transform their operations more easily. Fujitsu’s Profit Protection, Engineer-to-Order (ETO), Sustainable Manufacturing Loop and Digital KAIZEN, for example, where Fujitsu leverages SAP solutions including SAP Signavio to accelerate business process transformations, are just some of the assets that have been currently shared within SAP Signavio Process Explorer, with more to come.
