How to Prepare for the move to SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA in 5 Steps

This blog targets customers currently running GTS 11.0 (or 10.0 and 10.1) and wondering how they can prepare for the move to SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA.

Step 1 – The Readiness Check

The readiness check checks whether your system meets the prerequisites for conversion to SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA.

It needs to be executed in your current SAP Global Trade Services environment, before the migration and again shortly before you start the technical migration. The readiness check reports will be the starting point if you want to understand the effort required for your transition to SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA. It may also help you in deciding your transition strategy, for instance choosing between greenfield vs. brownfield implementation.

Step 2 – The Simplification List

To enable our customers to better plan and estimate their path to SAP S/4HANA, we have created the Simplification List for SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA. In this list, we describe in detail, on a functional level, what happens to individual transactions and solution capabilities. We have in some cases merged certain functionality with other elements or reflected it within a new solution or architecture.

Step 3 – The Conversion Guide

The Conversion Guide provides you with technical information regarding the conversion from a previous release of SAP Global Trade Services to the SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA.

Step 5 – Contract Conversion of existing SAP Global Trade Services licenses

SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA is, from a legal and commercial perspective, not the successor of SAP Global Trade Services. SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA is a new product. To be eligible to use the new product, a contract conversion of existing licenses must take place. Please reach out to your commercial contacts at SAP.
