On April 5, Gartner released the 2023 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms[1]. For another year SAP has been recognized as a Magic Quadrant Visionary in this market based on its Completeness of Vision (horizontal axis) and Ability to Execute (vertical axis). I wrote an article on the business value that SAP customers realize with SAP Analytics Cloud after last year’s recognition. In this article, I explained SAP’s cloud-first product strategy that enables fast deliveries of innovations. I also highlighted how SAP Analytics Cloud customers benefit from a complete solution for analytics and planning, with contextual and embedded analytics, and prepackaged best practices business content aimed to accelerate time to value.
SAP Datasphere
I’m taking this year’s recognition as a Visionary as an opportunity to come back to the recent and important announcement of SAP Datasphere. I’d like to confirm its significance for analytics and planning use cases moving forward.
First things first, let me briefly recap that SAP Datasphere is a comprehensive data service that enables every data professional to deliver seamless and scalable access to mission-critical business data. Rich business semantic modeling
SAP Datasphere provides SAP Analytics Cloud users with a direct line to mission-critical business data and metadata – and the critical relationship between them – from SAP applications. It makes it effortless for data and analytics professionals to solve complex business semantic modeling requirements via the new SAP Datasphere analytic model capability. This capability offers a multidimensional modeling experience and comes with powerful new features, such as calculated and restricted measures, exception aggregations and the pruning of attributes and measures. It provides accelerated time-to-value by automatically reusing the semantical definitions and associations from SAP applications, simplifying the steps data professionals must take to deliver mission-critical business data across their organization. SAP Analytics Cloud is tightly integrated with SAP Datasphere and analytic models are already established as “first class citizens” in SAP Analytics Cloud.
