Are you evaluating ways to increase the value of data? Then you are at the right place.

What does the Decentralized Network Enablement project aim to achieve?

A new approach for data sharing is needed to make the data economy become a reality. It is based on the preliminary work of Gaia-X and the International Data Space Association (IDSA), and it aims for decentralized data sovereign networks. Dataspaces are an abstraction in data management with the objective to solve main challenges encountered in the context of a data integration system: they are the clean rooms of data, the perfect ecosystem for a secure and sovereign data sharing, exchange, and value creation. Find more details here!

And data sovereignty means, that every partner of the network who provides data retains control of its data and decides:

  • who is involved

  • when and where

  • and under what conditions

in the data exchange.

Are you interested in gaining more insights?

If you would like to learn more about “Decentralized Network Enablement or How to join dataspaces”, we are happy to invite you to our initial virtual meeting on April 24, 2023 at 3 p.m. CEST.

Feel free to send me an email: karin.fischenbeck@sap.com! If you prefer a different date or time, we are more than happy to offer you an additional meeting slot.

Let’s join forces to shape a new approach for data sharing to make the data economy become a reality!

In close collaboration with Catena-X automotive network and selected external cross-industry initiatives, we are helping to build the foundation of successful business transformation.

Let me share some examples in the context of dataspaces, for instance two of the Catena-X use cases:

Use Case: Carbon Footprint Management

Climate neutrality is on everybody’s mind. Global warming must be limited to well below 2°C. Industry must also make its contribution: carbon emissions must be drastically reduced over the entire product lifecycle. Catena-X wants to change the lack of data available to record an entire product lifecycle, that reflects the real processes and location factors over the supply chain. Standardized measurements along the value chain are aimed at documenting real carbon data and making it comparable within the automotive industry. A uniform methodology, that specifies existing standards and procedures, is needed to record and compare carbon data.

Use Case: Parts Traceability

Catena-X is extending traceability to the entire automotive value chain. In the future, hardware and software applications ranging from production to recycling will be traceable.

The value creation of a vehicle is complex: from production to use and recycling, all the processes must be closely coordinated and comprehensible. This is accomplished through traceability. Information on each work step is recorded based on process and parts lists. This way, continuous data chains are created, that show exactly when and where which materials, components or software were used.

What’s in it for you?

We want to enable our customers to participate in similar decentralized data sovereign networks.

For this, we are currently developing new services to help you to:

  • onboard to decentralized networks

  • ensure a data sovereign data exchange (dataspace integration)

  • digitally describe your data (digital twin foundation)

  • and ensure self-sovereign identity (SSI)

What is SAPs Customer Engagement Initiative?

SAP Customer Engagement Initiative (CEI) is a part of SAP Customer Influence Program and provides a unique opportunity to find out early insights into new product development for SAP products and services. This means, you will get the opportunity to work together with SAP in adopting innovations early on and provide direct input to the roadmap, as well, as give feedback on upcoming features.

The initiative facilitates and enables close interaction between SAP and its customers by using a co-operation model and a legal framework. The customers can support SAP in shaping the future of innovation, so it is mutually beneficial!

What happens next?

For those of you who have registered for SAP’s Customer Engagement Initiative project “Decentralized Network Enablement” or contacted us directly, there will be an introductory session with our SAP project leads on April 24, 2023 at 3 p.m. CEST. This session will focus on answering all your questions in order to advance to the next step.

So, JOIN US – We are looking forward to engaging with you!
