Join the new Open Documentation Initiative Interest Group

The Open Documentation Initiative was launched in May 2021. We continuously keep onboarding guides to help you engaging with our authors directly. Now we also have a home in the community  to make announcements and to discuss the initiative itself.

Open Documentation Initiative? What’s that?

Are you a developer? Were you ever stuck in the documentation? Then look for the Edit button in the HTML viewer of SAP Help Portal. If it’s available, the guide you’re looking at was already onboarded for the Open Documentation Initiative. The initiative’s focus is to offer a Markdown version of especially our developer guides on github.com, so that you can engage with the responsible author in a discussion, or even make a contribution.

Why should I join the group?

What we didn’t have so far was a home for the initiative itself, a place to announce new features, newly onboarded guides, and to discuss the initiative itself. Well here it is:

For example, have a look at our post about the new badges we offer. By registering for the group, you won’t miss any updates, and I invite you to share your experiences with the initiative, or to start a discussion about it.

Who can join the group?

Anybody really. But to encourage especially those who already provided feedback through GitHub to our documentation, I’d like to shout out to all who already received one of our community badges related to the initiative:
