Access

How can I access the RASD tool?

There are two ways to access the tool:

1. Using the URL.
2. From the SAP for Me Portal (Navigate to Portfolio & Products -> SAP S/4HANA Cloud-> Additional Information ->Selected Content).

For both the approaches, you'll need a customer linked S-user ID

I am logged in with an S-user ID but I do not see my personalized What's New Viewer data. Why?

Check if the S-user is linked to a customer or partner. You need to login with a Customer linked S-user ID.

Is RASD Available for SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Customers?

The tool is available only for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition.

Is RASD priced?

No. Its available free of cost to all the SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition customers.

How can partners log into the RASD tool?

To access RASD 2.0 , partners can use their customers' S-users to login to RASD.

Where can I find RASD in SAP for Me?

RASD is placed under Portfolio & Products -> SAP S/4HANA Cloud-> Additional Information -> Selected Content.

Where can I find RASD in SAP Activate

You will find it under "Run" phase -> Release and Update Cycles for SAP S/4HANA Cloud->Prepare for a Release Upgrade

Usage

What does "Used Scope Mean"?

Used Scope view(s) consider the scope items used by the customers and matches with the scope items present in What’s New Viewer in S/4HANA Cloud records.
Used scope items are determined by customer usage. If the customers have used Apps, API, CDS Views etc… at any specified time interval (i.e., last 6 months) that are associated with certain scope item, then this would constitute "used scope".

What does "Usage Based Impact" Card show?

The "Usage Based Impact" shows the "day -one impact" of a release. This means that any app, API or CDS view which is either deleted or deprecated (i.e. will be deleted in the next release) is shown here.

What is the difference between deleted and deprecated objects ?

Deleted Apps, APIs or CDS views etc. refers to the objects which are getting removed from a release. An object is marked "Deprecated" if it will be removed in the next release but exists in the current release.

What does the "Usage Based Improvements" card show. How does it differ from the "Usage Based Impact"?

“Usage Based Improvements” show entries which are marked as “Changed” or “Must Know” under the category “Type” in the What’s New Viewer. The usage here is calculated on these criteria a.) Scope items used by the customer b.) Objects like apps, APIs and CDS views used by the customer. Usage Based Matching applies only to API, CDS and Apps

Does RASD show continuous delivery. Where can I find the related information?

Yes, RASD shows continuous delivery. You can use the dropdown of the "Release" filter on the homepage to select the desired continuous delivery.

What are some of the important use cases for RASD?

How to know the "day-one" impact of an upcoming release (deletions/deprecations)

1. Login to RASD via a customer S-User ID
2. Select the desired scope (default is “Used”), release, region(s), tenant(s)
3. The card “Usage Based Impact” will show the summary of the objects impacted
4. Click on the card to know details about each of these object
5. Click on the “Download Impact” button to download this list to a spreadsheet
6. Next click on the "Usage Based Catalogs" card. This card will provide the information on deleted/deprecated business catalogs and renamed application tiles
7. Combine the information from #4 and #6 above to get the "day one " impact on your used scope

How to know the improvements shipped in an upcoming release (changed/new)

1. Login to RASD via a customer S-User ID
2. Select the desired scope(default is “Used”), release, region(s), tenant(s)
3. The card “Usage Based Improvements” will show the summary of the objects impacted.
4. Click on the card to know details about each of these object
5. Click on the “Download Improvements” button to download this list to a spreadsheet

Why the numbers shown under "Usage Based Impact" zero?

This means either there are no deletions or deprecations of apps , APIs for CDS views for your selected scope or you have selected a continuous delivery under the "Release" Filter

What does the "Release Details" option for the filter "Scope" on the home page mean?

Release Details refers to the entire S/4HANA Cloud scope. Its not filtered either by the activated or used scope.

Why is the toggle for Prelims "on"? what does it indicate?

If the toggle is set to "Yes", it indicates that the source of the data shown in the RASD for the latest release is the Preliminary version of the What's New Viewer.

Where can I find information on the scope items used by me?

Ensure that "Scope" filter is set to "used" and then click on the header of the "Scope item Details" , a pop-up appears and you can see all the used scope items. This list can be downloaded using the “Download Scope” button.

What does the column "Degree of Change" refer to in the Scope Item Details pop-up?

The column “Degree of Change” shows the total number of records from the What’s New Viewer in S/4HANA Cloud which are associated with a scope item. For example, in the screenshot below there are total 42 changes (in terms of functionality) associated with the scope item J58. This list can be sorted in ascending or descending order. It can be downloaded using the “Download Scope” button. This information helps customers plan their testing considering cumulative changes rather than personalized one. When does RASD information gets updated?

RASD follows the What's New Viewer Document. It usually gets updated two days after the What's New viewer is updated

How many releases does RASD cover?

It covers two releases. Additionally, it covers the intermediate continuous deliveries between the two releases

Legacy RASD Tool(RASD 1.0)

How is the old RASD tool different from the new one?

The new tool lets the user login with a S-user ID, its a Fiori Based tool and usage based personalization is available in the new tool by default. In the old tool the user was expected to manually upload the used scope details.

I have a user in the old RASD tool, Will I be able to login with the same user?

You might not be able to login to the new RASD tool using the user from the old tool. Use a customer linked S-user ID to access the new tool.

In the old RASD tool, the ACT page showed "Test Recommendations", do we have something similar in the new tool?

In the new RASD tool, a similar information is available on the “Scope Item Details” pop-up. Click on the header of the “Scope item Details”, a pop-up appears which shows the details of scope items.
