Auto TU and Vehicle creation though PPF- SAP EWM

Introduction: Now a days businesses are asking to create the automatic TU (Transportation Unit) creation once the PO &IBD created though ASN.

So, in this Blog I am going to explain the TU configuration and automatic TU & vehicle creation through PPF actions.

So, this blogs are categorized as below sections:

  1. TU and Vehicle configuration steps in S4 and EWM
  2. PPF Configurations
  3. Testing

A)

IN S4:

  1. Define Packaging Material Types for Shipping

You can clearly see the particularly created TU has the assigned IBD to it.

Conclusion: By above steps I hope you understand the configuration steps of TU and PPF action setup and testing of TU and vehicle .

      Hi Rohela,

      Such an informative blog!!

I have a query here, following this PPF process, can we link multiple IBDs to single TU?

I mean is it possible to link new IBDs to existing TU automatically through PPF?

      Hi Shivangi,

On what criteria the system might decide which IBDs are meant to link with a specific TU? This linking has to be manual. My personal opinion though!

      Hi,
some things I do not understand:
      - in step 10 you DEactivate Shipping and Receiving for Warehouse. Why? Especially if in the steps following you set up all the things in shipping and receiving. The flag is not necessary, all it does is that the activation of yard management is not possible.
      - you define a means of transport ZTU and a packaging material type ZTU - these things have nothing to do with each other. The packaging material type is relevant for your packaging material. It does not have to be the same as the means of transport. You need to connect the packaging material and the means of transport (step 14), that is correct. You use a pack material TU4000, but I don't know if this is assigned to this packaging material group, you don't show that. And again, it is not necessary.
      - the action profile /SCWM/PDI_01 (shown is step 1B PPF Configurations) uses the common profile /SCDL/PRD_CMMN. This common profile includes the action /SCWM/PRD_CREATE_VEH, which uses the method /SCWM/WHR_CREATE_VEHICLE. You assigned this method to your new action ZTU/SCWM/PDI_01_WT_CREATE (what is that? you copied the action for the WT creation???). And that's why you have now two PDF actions in the inbound delivery (see 2 Maintain IBD) - and I don't think that the second one does anything. The one in the common profile is enough.

So, no sure how helpful this really is.

All the above is no official SAP statement.

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!
And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!
