Welcome back to this year’s first blog post of the intelligent ERP blog post series designed to share hands-on product expert insights on how technologies leveraging machine learning, situation handling technology, and more support your individual journey to the intelligent, sustainable enterprise. As you certainly already know, yesterday marked the general availability of our SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302 release. With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition we offer a fully-fledged solution that leads to optimized processes for a successful business. How does it do that? The “intelligent” ERP combines the most modern technologies to automate business processes and predict business events to help your business to run smoothly with a unique suite of best of bread – our philosophy from day 1.

SAP Build Process Automation
One way to achieve this is by automating your business processes wherever possible. With SAP Build Process Automation, we’re getting a step closer to this with each release. Since the last release in August, we have more than twice the amount of process automation bot templates available for you to get started quickly on the most on-demand use cases.

Let me explain just two of the many bots available as of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302:

Situation Handling Technology
We continuously optimize business processes with Situation Handling technology, informing the right users about business events that need their immediate attention to help you avoid any conflicts altogether! In this release, we offer two main scenarios:
With the ‘Monitor Situations – Extended’ app, you can monitor the handling of extended object-based situations in your business. This includes the occurrence and the life cycle of situation instances with respect to their status and related business objects. You can monitor how many situations are created for your particular use cases as well as analyze the lifecycle of these situations from creation to closure.

Intelligent Situation Automation is an extension of Situation Handling on the SAP Business Technology Platform that allows you to analyze situation data and process situations automatically using business rules. The Situation Knowledge Graph available with the Intelligent Situation Automation service leverages semantic relationships between dispersed information to uncover connections between situations, possible effects, or recurring patterns. It helps you to understand relationships between different solutions, business objects, and situations. With this, you can get a quick look at the top entity types and their related situation templates and thus, gain more details about how entities, entity types, and situations are related.

Collaboration
With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2302, we bring collaboration to the next level with the first release of the SAP Collaboration Manager. This gives you a seamlessly integrated place to interact with your peers inside the SAP Fiori launchpad, increasing overall user efficiency. Beyond inviting in-place participants to collaboration and chat on objects, you can store notes by creating chats with yourself. In a future release, we plan to add to the already-available peer-2-peer chat and sharing capabilities by giving the SAP Collaboration Manager the ability to recognize the complete business context through context awareness.

Machine Learning
Artificial intelligence provides digital devices with the ability to perform very complex tasks with great proficiency. Machine Learning leverages AI-based algorithms to support you at your workplace.
Intelligent Scenario Lifecycle Management (ISLM) is a framework that allows you to perform lifecycle management operations on machine learning scenarios. With this release, ISLM supports core data services (CDS) view entities to create scenarios based on SAP HANA ML automated predictive library (APL). CDS view entities are the successor of CDS DDIC-based views and offer enhanced capabilities. This process lets you create custom intelligent scenarios using CDS view entities and manage the lifecycle of these custom-created intelligent scenarios. You can integrate predictions in your business application with a low code approach using the ISLM-generated CDS view as well as use the ISLM app ‘Intelligent Scenarios Management’ to train the model, view model metrics. And activate for productive usage.

SAP Build Process Automation

- Supplier Invoice File Extraction from Email and Upload to SAP Central Invoice Management: This bot scans your Outlook inbox and extracts supplier invoice attachments based on accepted formats (JPEG, PNG, PDF, TIFF) and then automatically uploads the files to the SAP Central Invoice Management for further processing.
- Automated Release of Supplier Invoices Upon Customer Payment: This bot matches the supplier invoices with the corresponding customer invoices, tracks the receipt of full payments, and, following the principle of ‘Pay if Paid’ (PIP), automatically releases a vendor invoice for payment as soon as the full payment for the corresponding customer invoice has been received.
