Annually, every third Friday of December it's time to trade your casual garments for something more festive. We are celebrating Ugly Sweater Day. It's an informal holiday with the purpose of bringing family, friends, and coworkers together for some laughs and good cheer. People celebrate Ugly Sweater Day by wearing their most outlandish and ugly sweaters and having a good time.  Admittedly, everyone of us has at least one ugly sweater in our closet and tomorrow, December 16, it's time to show it to your fellow community members. It's a great opportunity to break out all those tacky sweaters that have been taking up space in the closet and get everyone into the holiday spirit.

Ugly sweaters have been around for as long as people created a concept of fashion. I would like to claim that initially, they weren’t made purposefully - maybe someone made a mistake in their knitting (if you want to prevent this, be sure to check out this discussion thread by my colleague akpetteroe2) or tried a new design that didn’t turn out as cool as they thought it would. The exact origins of the tradition are unclear, but it's said to have started around the early 90s. Two men from Vancouver started the idea to throw the first official holiday sweater party to receive donations for their friend’s cancer treatment. The party was a hit, paving the way for similar events to show up all over the world. Today, ugly sweater parties are a popular way for people to celebrate the holiday season and show off their funniest holiday sweaters.

My colleague katherine.kenneally already spoiled a little on the fact that there will be content about silly jumpers in her discussion thread - Door 15, go check it out her post, too. I hope (meanwhile), all of you have seen our calendar application on which we store all content pieces by the SAP Developer & Community Relations team that are part of 24 Days of SAP Community.

So, I hope you're all prepared to slip into your most goofy holiday sweaters and post a picture of it into the comment section below and/or to social media with the hashtag #SAPCommunity24 and #uglysweaterday to show your holiday spirit. Get creative, have fun, and help us spread holiday cheer!
