As you already might know, the term “CPQ” stands for “Configure-Price-Quote”. It basically means a process in which you configure your (more or less complex) product or service, define a price and create a quote. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Not surprisingly, creating quotes is not always that simple. Ideally it’s an automated process in your ERP backend, and yes: SAP S/4HANA is capable of supporting that in the product standard. But that’s not where the story ends.

Do you know that “SAP CPQ” stands for more?

As you can imagine, the standard’s functional scope is limited if it comes to specific tasks such as quotations. To close that gap, SAP CPQ is a relatively new addon to the SAP Cloud portfolio, a product specifically designed to automate the generation of complex quotes. Creating quotes can become quite cumbersome and time-consuming, especially for inexperienced sales personnel. And an incorrect quote can lead to either losing the deal or being obliged to accept a deal with questionable profitability.

And you know what? SAP CPQ has been named a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Configure, Price and Quote Application Suites – for the fifth time in a row! If you want more details, here’s the link to the full Gartner report (login required)

This said, I hope I could have made you a bit curious about the new, cloud-based SAP CPQ solution. More details can be found on SAP.com or just post any questions that come to your mind in the comments below. Happy to help!

Best regards,
