New Design for API Business Hub Enterprise/Developer Portal

Let me introduce you to the new design of the API business hub enterprise user interface!

In this blog I’ll try to walk you through some of the new items on the UI that will increase the efficiency of your interactions with the API business hub enterprise.

As you all know that managing the lifecycle of an API is simple if we are dealing with a limited set of APIs, infrastructure, and services. In today’s diverse IT landscape, where there is a possibility of solutions and services from different vendors with different API gateways, API Management becomes more complex. Last year we came up with the new offering of API business hub enterprise in the Cloud Foundry environment where we addressed the complexity of using multiple API gateways, and the onboarding/offboarding of developers and their management in different portals.

This year we are focusing on enhancing the usability and efficiency of your interactions with the API business hub enterprise/developer portal. Please note that the new design will be available for both Cloud Foundry and Neo.

What can you look for in the new design?

  • A new improved user experience for the available functionalities.
  • You can now customize the visual format of the API business hub enterprise using the Site Editor.

The Site Editor gives you a wide range of options on the UI. You can use these options to suite your branding needs and create a meaningful experience for your end users.

Using the Site Editor, you can:

  • Customize the branding and manage the content of your enterprise
  • Edit the site name and description
  • Upload your own banner image and logo
  • Customize the background settings
  • Modify the background and text of the header and footer design
  • Manage the reference links in the footer
  • Manage the content using domain-based categories

Roll out of the new design

The site admin within your enterprise can control how the roll out of the new design should happen within your organization and with your external consumers.

After making the required customizations, the site admin can use the available configurations to either enforce the users to start using the new design by default or enable the user to switch between the classic and the new design.

Setting the Default Design for API business hub enterprise

I’m sure that the above features will give you more flexibility in your interactions. Furthermore, the new API business hub enterprise design has an easy-to-understand navigation, which will enable you to orient yourself better within the API business hub enterprise. You can view a quick video for using the new design of the API business hub enterprise here. Also, for further information, please refer the following help topic: Consume APIs

      Hi Kasturi Kabiraj ,

Can you please check the video URL again? It seems the URL is internal or not published for the customer or partner.

      Hi Saurabh Kabra,

I have shared this video externally, which means people outside of SAP can view this video. Please can you check again and confirm?

Aah...I got the issue then. The URL mentioned by you is https://video.sap.com/media/t/1_lvu6jhzb . but https://video.sap.com is an internal-only website, hence though you have published the video for externals, we as customer/partners cannot login to videos.sap.com

You need to change the URL to https://sapvideoa35699dc5.hana.ondemand.com/?entry_id=1_lvu6jhzb and this works without any issue,

      Best

      Hi Kasturi Kabiraj,

I am trying to replicate the above steps in Trial Account getting the below error.

How to change Content Area Selection bar Color to the same as the header Selection bar Color.

Can we achieve the Content Area Selection bar Color and customization in Content Area in the SAP API Business hub?

      Thanks & Regards,

      Vinod Kumar

      Hi Kasi,

Currently, the selection bar colour setting in the site editor is only meant for the header bar navigation entities.

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback on this.  We will consider it for our future releases.

      Best Regards,

      Kranti

Regarding the error appearing in your trial account, I suggest that you raise a ticket through the SAP Support PortalInformation published on SAP site using the following component OPU-API-OD-DT. For more information, see Product SupportInformation published on SAP site.

      Thanks,

      Hi Kasturi,

Very useful video presentation.  Can I check how to design API Business Hub Enterprise in such a way that I can discover API's easily instead of search functionality. Basically look and feel very similar to  api.sap.com which is designed by product(domain category) and if you click on product -> API link it is further sub categorized as -> Packages (REST, ODATA ...)

      Appreciate your response.

      Thanks & Regards

      Kasi

      Hi Kasi,

Thanks for your feedback on this.  It certainly does make a lot of sense to have further sub-categories for the APIs within the products based on the protocol of the API.  This will help the users to get a better overview of the contained APIs within the product.

Would really appreciate if you could list your requirements in the influencer tool and based on the votes from more users, we will factor it in sometime in our roadmap.

      Best Regards,

      Kranti
