Edit BPMN Diagrams to adjust SAP Best Practice and Reference Processes in SAP Cloud ALM
Introduction
In this blog, I would like to show how you can copy and adjust BPMN flows that come with SAP Best Practice and Reference processes using SAP Cloud ALM.
Customize SAP practices
Let’s start SAP Cloud ALM and, click the “Process” tile to navigate to the Process app.
In the Process app you find all processes that have been set in scope for your SAP implementation project. At the bottom of the list you see the process “Accelerate Customer Return (BKP)”, which is part of the implementation content SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2022, private edition. When you click the process, you navigate to the process details.
In the details view, you see the BPMN diagram depicting how the process works. You also see a requirement which has been captured for the process. To support your business better, an additional activity is required, and the process diagram needs to be adjusted accordingly. To do so, you click on the “Copy Diagram” button.
Now, you created your own customer process, which you can give a different naming, localisation, or description. To adjust the diagram, you need to click on the “Solution Process Flow”-tab.
Again, you see the BPMN diagram, which came from the SAP Best Practice content. Now, you can click “Edit” to start changing the diagram.
Using the BPMN menu left to the diagram, you can pick and choose from the BPMN concepts to adjust the process. For instance you can click on the square symbol, representing BPMN tasks, you can create a new activity “Calculate Customer Score”, and you can drag and drop it into the diagram. After you completed your diagram changes, you can click the “Save” button.
Finally, you can click the “Publish” button, and your customised process can be used to drive your SAP implementation project.
3 Things to Remember
- SAP Cloud ALM allows you to customise SAP Best Practice and Reference processes e.g. SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public or private edition, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP ARIBA, …
- You can copy, and change BPMN diagrams.
- You can create your own customer processes that represent your businesses best.
Now, over to you: Request your own SAP Cloud ALM tenant and start to customise SAP standard processes to support your businesses best.
It's nice that this is now possible and that there also is an export function. If you added BPMN or SGX as supported export file format, this would be a perfect workaround until the Signavio integration is around the corner. Anyone else who would fancy this? 😉
Markus Wagner can you provide the steps or an image with the BPMN export function? We are not able to find the BPMN export, just the svg and pdf? Thanks
