SAP EWM: List of exceptions codes with a push of a button

Improvement proposal open for voting

List exception codes with F8 or another function key

A typical SAP EWM RF screen is of the following structure

Source: SAP Help

Notably, it features the shortcut field, that allows to enter exception codes.

Another feature of SAP EWM RF screens are function keys and F8 among them, that displays a list of possible values for a selected field.

Surprisingly, the F8 key does not work for the shortcut field and a list of possible exceptions can not be invoked with F8. In order to see the exceptions, LIST string needs to be typed in the shortcut field.

Consequently warehouse operators need to either memorize exceptions or type LIST each time they want to select an exception from a list. That is cumbersome and takes time.

That problem as been brought up by Per Lundh in the question Standard RF-button to list exception codes?

As I was not able to find a quick solution with standard SAP EWM RF configuration settings, I have opened an improvement proposal to display exception lists with a push of the F8 button. The more of your votes the proposal gets, the more likely it is to be implemented.

should be possible with button press, not the same way how it works for other input fields, but with a standard.

I need to test it little bit before it be clear, after we can describe it in a small how to guide.

That would be so cool. I'll attach your guide to the improvement proposal, so it is incorporated in standard EWM config, with your permission of course.

      Good morning Dominik,

As always a very good improvement proposal . You have found a gap again 😀 Good to have You our mentor!

There is an excepction code "LIST" that displays the list of all valid exceptions which can be used in RF: LIST — Trigger List of Valid Exceptions

      Excepction%20code%20LIST

We can share to employee the barcode with this exception then the employee will have to remember only this single code. After scanning the system will display him the list of possible exceptions to use.

We created the excepction code 99 copied from standard "LIST". The "99" can be effortlessly entered from the keybord or by barcode. After enter the 99 code the user gets the list:

It's strange that SAP didn't give the function code and button for using the exception codes in RF environment. Very good improvement - I hope it will be accepted by SAP.

      Thank you!

      Thank you for the comment.

Indeed, using 99 instead of LIST is a terrific approach, very simple, yet very efficient - it's much easier to type 99 instead of LIST on a keyboard of an RF device.

Always surprised how many customers really do use standard RFUI. Good hints, Dominik, thank you!

Standard RF transaction have served me well since LE-WM. Of course, more often then never they require enhancements, additional fields. Still they have been the workhorse of many implementations.

Simon Kramer 's blogpost helped us to do this just with config.

Appearently, the answer was written in ABAP-code all along.. Adding function code GTEXCP works great!
