It’s about TIME: Highlights from the SAP SuccessFactors Time Management 2H 2022 release
The Time Management solution area continues to be an area of focus, innovation, and investment for SAP SuccessFactors. SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking was introduced in 1H 2021 and already within 4 releases, has rapidly evolved into a feature rich, robust solution. We continue to add on to global absence management and localization capabilities to Time off capabilities within SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central addressing top customer requests.
Our product teams have already shifted focus to the next releases – planning, designing, and progressing our solution to tackle and deliver features and functionality to address increasingly complex and challenging scenarios. These are certainly exciting times for the Time Management product teams and those of us associated with bringing the product to our customers.
In this blog, I would like to highlight a few key features and enhancements coming in this release (2H 2022) and point you to resources and assets which will help you understand, explain, try out and implement these for your organization or for your customers.
SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking will include enhancements such as –
Grace period rounding while clocking in and out or entering time, allows customers to define a grace period at clock in / out.
Clocking in and out, or recording clock times on a time sheet is a point in time entry and no one can be perfect and clock in or out at the exactly at schedule start or end. Defining grace period rules help organizations provide their employees flexibility by rounding up or down to the scheduled start or end time.
This feature supports the employee and also prevents overtime calculations, or alerts from getting triggered if within the grace time period.
Another feature pertains to the treatment of public holidays. Not all public holidays are treated exactly alike, especially from a holiday premium perspective. The Public Holiday category has been introduced to allow customers to categorize and group holidays such as national holidays or religious holidays which may be compensated differently if employees are required to work on these days. Rules can be configured for each of these groups.
For example, work on national holidays in India, such as Independence Day or Republic Day is generally not permitted, except for essential services. When required to work on national holidays, employees are compensated at a higher rate than work on regular public holidays.
Notable enhancements to the Time Off functionality in Employee Central include,
A popular customer influence request to be able to download time off records onto a calendar application to be able to mark leaves on the calendar is being fulfilled.
Employees can now download the leave record as a .ics file which can be saved onto their calendar application.
Payout calculations upon employee termination tend to be challenging, with this release we introduce configuration options to exclude leave bookings and postings which lie after the termination date for calculating time account payout balances.
Other key enhancements to improve the overall experience as well as integration include,
- Time administrators will appreciate the ability to copy Time objects versus having to recreate these manually each time a new object is required.
- The time sheet experience is being improved further with the addition of field criteria and conditional fields to present to provide relevant choices to the employee based on organizational criteria.
- Point to Point replication of time information with SAP ERP HCM Payroll is now generally available providing smoother end to end integration with SAP ERP HCM Payroll (similar to replication with Employee Central Payroll).
These are a few highlights, for an exhaustive and detailed listing of all the features along with technical guidance on pre-requisites and configuration information please review the detailed 2H 2022 release blog by my colleague Volker Ruof
Our SAP Best Practices and Localization teams continue to provide complementary solutions in the form of sample configuration accelerators and localization content.
In this release customers can try out Sample time profiles with latecomer detection configuration as well as 15-minute increment rounding rules. These configuration samples can be downloaded, checked out and adapted for customer scenarios.
SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone UI5 cards are a great tool to surface relevant information in a consolidated way on a card. Our Best Practices team has created a Flex time dashboard card for managers to be able to review the working time account balances of their direct reports.
This will be available as part of the Work Zone package content and available for customers to enable and use.
In the Time Off area, Localized Leave and Time off configurations are also added for Kuwait as a package along with use cases for concurrent absence scenarios in the USA.
SAP Best Practices Time Management content being released in 2H 2022, will be covered in more detail, in another blog by my colleague Neelesh Kamath in the next few days.
