SAP EarlyWatch Alert now identifies missing Side Effect Solving Sap Notes
Sometimes we see that SAP Notes cause unwanted side effects, and these can lead to a lot of problems. The SAP EarlyWatch Alert Tool can now help you to identify situations where your system is affected by such an already known side effect.
Why this Check?
Our goal for this development is to pro-actively alert customers via the SAP EarlyWatch Alert, when they implemented an SAP Note causing a known side effect in the past.
What is Offered?
We have established an automated process between SAP Notes and the SAP EarlyWatch Alert. Therefore, it always has the latest information on SAP Notes which solve side effects. Equipped with this information it can check if you implemented SAP Note on your system that causes a known side effect and raise an alert if you didn’t implement the solving SAP Note.
When alerted you get the list of the causing SAP Notes that are implemented in your system along with the corresponding missing solving SAP Notes.
The functionality is currently offered for the following areas:
- Extended Warehouse Management (SCM-EWM-*)
- Transportation Management (TM*)
- Production Planning (PP-*)
- Plant Maintenance (PM-*)
- Finance (Components FI-* and FIN-*)
- Controlling (CO-*)
- Materials Management (MM-*)
- Logistics General (LO-*)
- Advanced Planning and Optimization (SCM-APO-*)
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM-*)
- Payroll (PY-*)
- Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC-*)
- Cross Applications (CA-*)
We plan to extend this to other application areas as well in the future.
Customer Benefits
With this check, customers can detect already at a very early stage the issues existing in their system and ensure stability.

Hi Rozyta,
If nothing is showing under "SAP EarlyWatch Alert Solution Finder and enter the text ‘Side Effect Notes’ in the Enter Search Term field", means that theirs's nothing identified or do we need to take action to get this functionality?
King Regards,
Bruno Sousa
Hello Bruno,
If you are looking for missing side effect solving SAP Notes for SAP Extended Warehouse Management or SAP Transportation Management, then you need you ensure the online collectors are allowed in your system (this is a pre-requisite). This needs to be done via the report RTCCTOOL.
Once online collectors are allowed and you still find no results, it means you have no missing SAP Notes.
For SAP Production Planning or Plant Maintenance, the online collectors are not needed. If no results found, then there was nothing identified.
You can also find the alert by setting filter for Alert Category->Application (Extended Warehouse Management, Transportation Management, Production Planning and Plant Maintenance)
Best Regards,
Rozyta
Perfect, many thanks!
Hi
Is there a way to get application EWA alerts to email on weekly basis just like standard EWA alerts. EWA from Solution Manager is missing application specific alerts for example, EWM.
Thanks
Rathnakar
Hello Rathnakar,
You are right, the Side Effects Notes recommendations are only available when the systems transfer data to SAP. All other EWM checks should be available if the system allows online collectors ( this is a pre-requisite). Refer to SAP Note - 3018957
There is no email option available. You can create a calendar entry with a link to Solution Finder or Workspace or the Reports App instead to check the EWA reports generated.
Warm Regards,
Rozyta
