We are slowly coming to the end of Devtoberfest 2022, but we still have Week 4 to go. Good news is, it is not too late to tune in and get involved. Join the  Devtoberfest Community Group to catch up with all the weeks content.  For Week 3 we had 16 sessions and now for Week 4 we have about 14 sessions coming up.

Monday – ABAP


Week 3

Week 3 had 2 sessions on ABAP Day. We had our first session with dj.adams.sap and karl.kessler where they had a broad and in-depth discussion on the evolution of ABAP, where it came from, how it grew and adapted. We then had a session on ABAP troubleshooting tools in Eclipse with Rich Heilman and Ingo Braeuninger.

Week 4

For this week we will have a session with Michael Keller where he talks about his first contact with ABAP and gives a three-step approach to getting started with ABAP and a session with Andre Fischer on a beginner's guide to the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model. You will learn how to use proven and new technologies, such as Core Data Services (CDS) and behavior definition and implementation languages, to build SAP Fiori apps and OData services using RAP.

Tuesday – User Interface


Week 3

User Interface topics for last week had two sessions, one on Clean SAPUI5 and how to make SAPUI5 /JavaScript code more readable, maintainable, and testable and another session on testing UI5 Apps with wdi5.

Week 4

For week 4 we will have a session on improving the performance of UI5 applications with Peter Muessig and a session with Marco Eidinger on building beautiful, native mobile applications with SAP Fiori for iOS for UI.

Wednesday – Data & Analytics


Week 3

For week 3 we focused on SAP Data Warehouse Cloud for data and analytics. We had session with Klaus-Peter Sauer where he gave us an end-to-end overview and demo of the product. We then had a session with Deniz Osoy where he presents the strategic feature of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, the so-called SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP BW bridge.

Week 4

Week 4 is going to be focused on SAP Data Intelligence with Thorsten Hapke.

For low code no code, it was all about process automation with 5 sessions.

Friday – Cloud Native Development


Week 3

For week 3 we went over part two of the SAP BTP, Kyma runtime session with Gaurav Abbi and then we learned the basics of containerization with josh.bentley

For Week 4 we will go over how to build and deploy a UI5 application to Cloud Foundry that consumes an ABAP based backend system and develop your first CAP application on the SAP BTP, Kyma runtime.

Fun Friday Activity


Week 3

The Fun Friday event for week three was the Flying Money Game tournament created by our very own nicolai.geburek ! There were two tournaments to join to work best with your time zone. We also brought back Devtoberfest gaming night! This year we focused on only a few games, Fortnite and Mario Kart 8, which the Developer Advocates played at various times and streamed to be watched.

Week 4

For week 4 we will get together with a few other engineers to play “How did I not see that?”. We will be getting together to tell our own stories of how we wasted inordinate amounts of time on silly mistake while writing code. There will be 2 sessions to work best with your time zone.
