SAP BTP, Kyma Runtime trial clusters’ lifespan limited to 14 days

Hello Kyma community,

I would like to bring to your attention a change that affects all users of the SAP BTP, Kyma runtime trial offering. The SAP BTP, Kyma runtime trial offering is available via an SAP BTP Trial account.

Starting September 20th, 2022  SAP BTP, Kyma runtime clusters created as part of your SAP BTP trial account now expire 14 days after they have been created and are then permanently deleted.

This happens regardless of the trial account suspension. The trial SAP BTP, Kyma runtime environment validity is not the same as the validity of your Trial account, and it does not affect the account.

On deletion of the expired cluster, we also attempt to delete the Service Instances that you created with the cluster. If we cannot do that, you have to remove the Service Instances yourself.

Please take the necessary steps to save any important work or configuration in any existing trial cluster by September 20th, 2022.

      Hello Varban Vasilev ,

Thanks for the heads up. If I read your blog post correctly the 14 days period is only applicable  to SKR clusters being created on SAP BTP trial accounts.

Thus this new rule does not apply to free plan kyma clusters created  on SAP BTP Free Tier accounts ? Can you please clarify ?

      kind regards; Piotr

      Hi Piotr Tesny ,

that is correct. The change only affects clusters created from SAP BTP Trial accounts.
It does not affect the free tier plan clusters.

      Best regards,

      Varban

Is it possible to remove all service instances after Kyma cluster disapear? I need it to reinit Trial period on Lyma cluster. I try to do it with SMCTL and can't login with global credentials and/or OAuth sercret too. With smctl i'm using sm_url and global user/password or client/secret of credentials. Without any success.

      Thank you,

      Anton
