It’s that time of year. Devtoberfest starts on October 1 and you don’t want to miss it.

If you’ve attended before, you know that Devtoberfest is a celebration of what makes us developers: coding and collaboration!

TechEd and Devtoberfest 2022

Devtoberfest is an entire month of tech talks, self-paced learning, coding challenges, and other fun activities.

Once you join the Devtoberfest group on SAP Community, you can follow us every week as we dive deeper into the different topics while helping you set up your tools and environments so you can make the most of your SAP TechEd experience in November.

Right now, we're all talking about what we're looking forward to learning.

Devtoberfest has something for everyone, whether you’re just starting out, or have years of experience as a developer. Of course, there are many reasons to attend Devtoberfest. Here are the top 5:

1. Beginners welcome!

You’ve told us that it can be difficult for developers to break into new topic areas. This year, our theme is Beginners.  We designed content to help you get started. If you’re very experienced, stay with us: Devtoberfest will still include opportunities to engage at a deep, detailed level with SAP experts and your peers.

2. Be prepared for TechEd

Attending Devtoberfest in October helps you get the most out of TechEd in November.

Devtoberfest will give you a basic introduction to topics that will be covered in two days of intensive expert content at TechEd. You’ll have a chance to set up the right tools and environments in advance.

3. Great topics selected by our experts

Every year, our SAP experts take a look at topics that are popular, impactful and critical to success. For Devtoberfest, we develop a program that is relevant, thought-provoking, and fun.

Devtoberfest 2022 will focus on:

    • ABAP

    • Cloud native

    • Low-code/No-code

    • Data and Analytics

    • User Interface

4. Consume content at your own pace

At Devtoberfest, asynchronous learning means that you can access content, such as hands-on tutorials, at any time. Attend a livestream so you can ask questions in real-time. Or learn on demand at your own pace when it’s convenient for you.

To make things interesting, just like last year, we will award points for attending educational sessions, completing certain developer tutorials tied to the topic weeks, or other activities that contribute to the SAP Developer Community.

5. Win big: Content prizes include a trip to the SAP Newport Beach office in California

Back by popular demand, this year’s contest will provide opportunities to earn points while learning. Prizes will be awarded based on points and you’ll be able to follow your progress through the contest gameboard. The grand prize this year will be an all-expense paid trip to SAP’s Newport Beach office in California!

Get into Devtoberfest: Where to start

This year, Devtoberfest has a new home: SAP Community Groups. We’ve created a dedicated Community Group for Devtoberfest and all the individual events will be listed in the SAP Community Events.

If you are new to SAP Community Groups, here is some helpful information on how to join.

Once you’ve joined SAP Community Groups, simply navigate to the SAP Community Group for Devtoberfest. No need to fill out a separate registration form for the event. Just join the Devtoberfest group and you’re all set.

Can’t wait to see you there.
