Partners from 5 Countries in Asia Pacific and Japan(APJ) came together in the first Hack2Build initiative for partners focused on Small and Midsize Business (SME) to build innovations using SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). The initiative focused on using SAP Business ByDesign and SAP Business One solutions by partners to build new processes, integration and extensions with SAP BTP as their foundation to build their innovations.
SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) allows companies to integrate and extend SAP business solutions, making it easy for partners to offer their own solutions and applications to their customers in the Cloud model. SAP BTP brings together capabilities across database and data management, application development and integration, analytics, and intelligent technologies to enable customers to turn data into business value, compose end-to-end business processes, and to build and extend SAP applications quickly.
Hack2Build, a virtual Hackathon event was held during August 23-30, 2022. Partners from APJ brought their innovative use-case based on their experience working with Small and Midsize Business and followed the best approach to rapidly build innovations to adapt to the evolving needs of SME business and streamline processes with the help of SAP Experts. The Partner Ecosystem success organisation along with SME product management team and SAP Sales team focused on SME business, cooperated to bring this initiative to the partners in APJ region.
12 Partner companies participated in the Hack2Build initiative and brought their business experts, architects, developers, and consultants to develop and demonstrate a prototype in less than a week to complement SAP Business One and/or SAP Business ByDesign solutions using SAP BTP.
The Wining solutions are highlighted below. Although this blog depicts the 3 winning solutions, the details of the solutions developed by all the participating partners after completion of the 'build phase', will be compiled in the SME Business Innovation playbook.
Cinntra developed a Machine learning (ML) Based Production Process Enhancement System for the Textile industry to address the Quality control process, automating Fabric defect detection and identification, Machine maintenance to cover the end-to-end production cycle to help textile industry move towards becoming more sustainable.The textile industry process today is affected by defect both because of machine failure and quality of “things” used during production leading to returns, quality issue, lower customer satisfaction and cost overrun. The monitoring and quality control process is predominantly handled by human, and this also cause defects and quality issues.
Cinntra's solution uses Computer vision and Machine Learning to monitor production process and evaluate anomalies in the different stages of the manufacturing process. The camera looks for defects and the Machine learning algorithm identifies the cause of the defect. Together they control the production process to minimise defect and cost overruns. The solution also provides smart dashboards and KPI to give insights into Quality control and Machine Predictive Maintenance. The web application was developed with SAP UI5 using SAP Business Application Studio as the development environment and SAP HANA Cloud to Store, process, and federate data.
1st Runner up - MORR COMPUTING PVT LTD., India
MORR FINN BOT is an analytics automation Bot developed to provide faster Data to Insight and improve productivity of Finance staff. The analytics Bot creates narrative story from the Analytics charts to give faster insights from the chart. The solution also provides a SAP Conversional AI Bot which allows the finance teams to interact using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to find the narrative story and find actionable narrative. The solution is published as a Mobile application using SAP Appgyver. The Mobile app allows the end users to access the Bot from any kind of device. The solution leverages the SAP Conversational AI, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Integration suite to integrate with SAP Business One and SAP Business ByDesign solutions.
2nd Runner up – PRISTINE SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED, Sri Lanka
In Manufacturing companies, once the production order is finished, the WIP run has to be done as soon as possible before the production order gets to the next stage. Mostly users are doing this manually. Pristine has identified this as a challenge and built an Intelligent WIP Clearing solution to automate the process and to reduce time and human errors. The solution uses SAP Intelligent Robotic Process to automate the WIP process. The RPA Bot constantly looks for new production order and clears WIP item which decreases time and mitigates human error. The Bot can be scaled as the production increases and the efficiency increases with volume. The solution would be tailored to address any manufacturing business across industries.
We would like to thank all the participating partners who eagerly brought their ideas to a working prototype in less than a week. The solution ideas address a particular market or customer need and hence are valuable once it is fully developed. The following partners showcased a working prototype of their solution during the demo-jam.
