What is Two-Tier ERP?
Global organizations are increasingly adopting a Two-Tier enterprise resource planning (ERP) strategy to run their global businesses on two or more ERP systems to meet their market needs. SAP’s Two-Tier ERP strategy with SAP S/4HANA Cloud offers headquarter-subsidiary, central services, supply chain ecosystem deployment models enabling business and IT to work together to build sustainable, scalable solutions providing all benefits of cloud deployment – agility, standardization and low total cost of ownership (TCO) – while maximizing existing investments in their ERP systems (in cases where an organization is not ready to fully transition to the cloud). Two-Tier ERP for Project Management
As part for of the Professional Services and EPPM solutions areas of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, customer can now enjoy more savvy and lean ways of managing their projects. This now makes a great case for a hybrid project management framework, where Two-Tier scenarios like headquarters/affiliate or master project/sub-project can be handled.
Let us understand how a Two-Tier scenario of this sort will work. A typical headquarters or parent company setup would involve portfolio management and steering-committee capabilities on the on-premise end and leaner project management capabilities on the cloud end. This will facilitate portfolio managers and program managers to centrally manage multi-level projects and delegating the sub-project management to individual project managers from each of the affiliates.

SAP has also released several APIs to facilitate Two-Tier ERP deployment. The details of the APIs can be found in API Hub and also in What’s New Viewer. You can use these APIs to integrate different systems and build new business use case scenarios with SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
