In the August 2022 SAP Screen Personas practitioner forum, we had some new attendees who were looking for tips on how to get started. The community responded with some great suggestions. Some of the attendees have many years of experience with SAP Screen Personas, so they have many lessons to share that will accelerate your time to value.

Learn from peers and SAP product experts in the monthly SAP Screen Personas practitioner forum.

Here is an edited digest of the chat from the practitioner forum.

  • Hafeez: Hi. We're just starting our SAP Screen Personas journey. Would you have any recommendations on how to get started with SAP Personas? And what are the easiest transaction codes to simplify that have the biggest impact in the FI/HR/procurement areas.

  • Dan: Start small with a scenario that adds immediate value.

  • Hans: Do the openSAP courses.

  • Aleksandar: OpenSAP for starters, then start a real-world scenario.

  • David:   Never start with VA01 or similarly complex transactions.

  • Aleksandar: Ha ha @David

  • Cristin: Involve the users early, create some quick wins that make their lives easier with fewer clicks.

  • Dwaine: Get the end user involved early in the process.

  • Farhad: What you do in SAP GUI for HTML may behave completely differently in Slipstream Engine. Take nothing for granted.

  • Elliott:   If you use IW transactions for maintenance, IW24 can be a good transaction to start with.

  • Abril:  Subscribe and watch the SAP UX Engineering videos on YouTube.

  • David: Your first goal is to simplify a simple transaction.  The next goal is to add business logic with scripting.

  • Dan: Use very small UX design techniques (design thinking) and show how quick and easy it is (gets immediate buy in). But there's a time and a place for using it.

  • Brian: If you don't know JavaScript, use something like W3schools.com.

  • Aleksandar: Restrict to display-only transaction codes to start out.

  • David: Get the SAP Screen Personas e-book - latest and greatest

  • Brian: Don't start with mobile and viewports. They are too complex for beginners.

  • David: Productivity Power Play videos

  • Hafeez: What a lovely bunch of people - Super ideas - Thank you so much!
