SAP Data Warehouse Cloud: New Features in Q2 2022

To be honest I can really do with a vacation now – it has been such a busy quarter! We have exciting new features in every area.

Here is our selection of top features for Q2 2022:

  • remote conversion for SAP BW bridge
  • task chains
  • partition-wise refresh for view persistence
  • more complex functions for calculated measures
  • new impact and lineage analysis diagram
  • configuration of the tenant size
  • SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office for SAP Data Warehouse Cloud

Remote Conversion for SAP BW Bridge

In the first quarter of 2022, we already introduced shell conversion for SAP BW bridge. Transferring data models from SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA to SAP BW bridge was then made possible, but without data. With remote conversion, you can now transfer data models with data.

Task Chains

Quite often, you will have a series of processes that you have to run one after the other. In order to save you from having to start each of them manually, you can now create a task chain to define a group or series of tasks that are executed in sequence. You can replicate remote tables, persist views or run data flows in one batch.

Partition-Wise Refresh for View Persistence

In the View Persistency Monitor, you can now lock data loads when you create a partition. It’s useful when you think the data will no longer change, or no change is expected for a while. The partition is “locked”, and thus you avoid unnecessary data load while persisting a view.

More Complex Functions for Calculated Measures

In the Business Builder, for calculated measures, there are now many additional functions available. You can use elementary arithmetic (operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), and also more complex functions like maximum/minimum, IF (as function), mathematical functions like round, and conversion functions like convert to decfloat.

New Impact and Lineage Analysis Diagram

The impact and lineage analysis diagram allows you to understand and visualize the context of a selected object. This diagram has been completely rebuilt to provide a new look and feel.

Configuration of the Tenant Size

As an Administrator, you can increase the Size of Your Tenant in the configuration of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. If you haven’t yet allocated all your capacity units or if you’ve acquired additional capacity units, you can allocate them and increase the sizes of:

  • your SAP HANA storage and compute
  • data lake
  • and SAP BW Bridge

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office for SAP Data Warehouse Cloud

In SAP Analysis for Office, there is the new connection type SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. With the connection type SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, you can search for datasets that have been created in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and use them in your analysis in SAP Analysis for Office.

If you would like to have an overview of all the features that have been released, read the what’s new information on the Help Portal:

      Hi!

Thank you for the update! Happy to see latest news.

I assume the part below "Partition-Wise Refresh for View Persistence" is a copy failure 😉

      Regards,

      Peter

Nice blog... but to be honest... If you had shipped a "finished" product from the beginning, you would not have the effort of integrating new features into existing coding... and - hopefully - test every changed functionality to make sure you do not damage anything which worked before ... allover, each and every quarter 🙁

PS: Maybe you could add, which version of Analysis Office is required for DWC connection?

Unfortunately, this is how software delivery usually works ...

About Analysis for Office: in a highlight video, I cannot go into all the details, but there is a  blog post on this topic:
