Free Trial of SAP Product Footprint Management

Update May 22, 2023: As mentioned by Yann Floch in the comments, what this blog is describing was put out of scope for the latest S/4HANA Cloud Trial release.

Did you know that SAP provides a free trial for SAP Product Footprint Management? You can even see the integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Let me show how.

Go to https://www.sap.com/products/s4hana-erp/trial.html and sign up for a free trial. It’s for 14 days, but it can be extended as many times as you want. As part of this trial you will get access to a trial of SAP Product Footprint Management as well.

Once you logged in to the trial system, go to Guided Tours and scroll down to Product Footprint Management.

There are two guided tours here:

Product footprint in S/4HANA Cloud

  • Go to the View Product Footprints tour – This shows how product footprint information is displayed in S/4HANA Cloud. The calculation has been done in SAP Footprint Management and it has been published to S/4HANA Cloud.
    • As Inventory Analyst you can see the carbon footprint of the raw materials used for production. You work in the Manage Stock Fiori app and navigate to the View Product Footprints app.

    • As Purchaser you analyze the carbon footprint impact of your purchase requisitions. You go to the Monitor Purchase Requisition Items app and you can see the CO2 impact here. Based on this information you can optimize your purchasing from a sustainability perspective.

Product footprint in SAP Product Footprint Management

  • Go to the Manage Product Footprints tour – This shows how you can calculate and eventually reduce the footprint of your purchased products. You go to Calculate Footprints app and configure the mapping to link products to emission factors, then run the calculation.

You see that you purchase more from the supplier with higher carbon footprint, which is not the best from sustainability point of view, so you can decide to purchase more from your other supplier based on this insight.

Hello Tamas, the PFM trial that you're describing was put out  of scope for the latest S/4HANA Cloud Trial release. Would be great if you could adjust the blog.

Hello Tamas, the Trial Center do not have Product Footprint Management. Has it been removed recently? Any other way to get trial version?

      Regards,

      Debashish
