We are happy to announce the release of our new Best Practices for Designing Accessible Stories! To promote inclusivity in the work environment, the stories, and visualizations you create should be designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities. This best practice document guides you through accessibility topics such as contrast and colors, text and font, chart design, table formatting, and testing. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge to create insightful stories that are accessible to all audiences.

This guide is intended for story designers who have a good understanding of SAP Analytics Cloud features and are looking to improve how they design their dashboards.

In addition to this best practice document, we will also be delivering a sample story and a template demonstrating high contrast in the SAP Business Content. This provides an example of how accessibility impacts story design. You can find it on your tenant in the Content Network under Samples in the package SAP Analytics Cloud Accessibility Templates or once downloaded in the folder SAP_SMPL_Guidelines_Templates.

Accessibility is important as it allows everyone, including people who are differently abled, to access and use technology. Around 15 % of the population are touched by this topic (according to the World Health Organization). Keeping accessibility in mind as a designer will make the lives of your users easier. For more general knowledge about various aspects of accessibility please refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

With these best practices, we hope to jumpstart your journey in creating accessible stories!
