New IDM and DC functionalities,  elevated user experience

This week, SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain for secondary distribution (S4SCSD) 3.0 was released to customers, providing oil, gas, and energy companies powered by SAP with a number of meaningful advantages.

The new release adds extra functions, more usability, and further improvements to S4SCSD, which encompasses the industry solutions SAP S/4HANA SDM and SAP S/4HANA RFNO. The users of the tour planning module IDM can now use the Roadblock Manager. With this app, temporary roadblocks can be created, so that the delivery route can be planned around them. The users of the Data Collation functionality will also benefit from gainful innovations: A new app helps them to quickly identify documents, which are cross-referenced elsewhere. This minimizes the risk of incomplete processes in the monthly settlement.

Technical improvements

The backend has been outfitted with a range of novelties, too. The new release built on S/4HANA 2021 now supports one-step installations via the SAP Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM), upgrades using SAP Software Update Manager (SUM), as well as Zero Downtime Upgrades. The latter aim to grant the users the highest possible availability of the software and its features. Furthermore, there are two new languages to choose, namely Japanese and Simplified Chinese to make the product more attractive for customers in the Asian markets. Another advantage: For the first time ever, the core functionalities of the release – such as IDM – can also be run on systems that do not have IS-OIL activated.

I am very proud of the skill, effort, and commitment that both my team at Implico and our partners at SAP have shown to make this new release happen. And I look forward to see how customers and end users will benefit from the new apps and functionalities provided with this new release.
