SAP Analytics Cloud is a single solution for business intelligence (BI), augmented and predictive analytics, and enterprise planning with the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology. It helps everyone in your organization make fast, confident decisions.

This blog post introduces the new features and enhancements of the SAP Analytics Cloud Q2 2022 Quarterly Release (QRC).

Join our SAP Product Experts in the video below as they demonstrate some of the features highlighted in Q2 2022.

System Administration & Technical Requirements

Although not required, you may upgrade to the latest SAP Analytics Cloud agent version 1.0.349 to take advantage of all data acquisition types.

The agent’s minimum version remains at 1.0.75, with the following exceptions:

  • Version 1.0.99 for SAP ERP/SQL Database
  • Version 1.0.91 for SAP universe (UNX)
  • Version 1.0.233 for SAP Business Warehouse (BW)
  • Version 1.0.235 for SAP HANA View
  • Version 1.0.248 for File Server

For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

Release Highlights

Administration & Service Management

View Team Membership of Users

Administrators can now view, but not edit, the teams that a user belongs to through the User Administration page. This helps to improve the administrator’s visibility of the user population by enabling them to view the teams a user belongs to. (SAP Roadmap Explorer) (Video)

Analytics Design

Custom Widget Data Binding

This new feature makes designing analytical applications easier by providing the ability for users to simplify the binding of data to a custom widget.

Custom widget data binding supports assigning SAP Analytics Cloud Data Models to custom widgets via the Builder Panel without the need of writing codes for data binding. This means that application designers will no longer need to use hidden tables to bind data to their custom widgets. The custom widget developer must implement data binding capabilities in the Json file and web component JS file for a custom widget consumer to assign an SAP Analytics Cloud model to the custom widget.

Please note that this is only available in Optimized View Mode. (Video)

Data Center Availability

Ability to Abort Pending Actions

Calendar Views Renamed to Workspaces

To align terms across SAP Analytics Cloud, the calendar views Calendar, Gantt, and List are now called workspaces.

Mobile Analytics

Optimized View Mode in iOS App

Users can now enable Optimized View Mode in the iOS App. Optimized view mode provides several usability improvements when viewing, exploring, and interacting with stories. It also provides performance improvements depending on the dashboard characteristics and executed workflows. Please note, this is a controlled release and not all features and story options will be available when you enable this mode.

Microsoft Office Integration

Support for new cell-based custom formula: “SAP.OVERWRITEDIMENSION”

Users can now overwrite the selection of members for any dimension positioned in the filter area or in a row or column axis of a table with the new cell-based custom formula “SAP.OVERWRITEDIMENSION”. (SAP Roadmap Explorer) (Video)

Please note that this feature will be released in June 2022.

Tenant repointing – Ability to Transport a Microsoft Excel Workbook Across Tenants

Users can now transport a Microsoft Excel workbook from one tenant of SAP Analytics Cloud to another. (SAP Roadmap Explorer) (Video)

Smart Copy and Paste Functionality in Microsoft Excel Reports

Users can now copy a table definition and paste it to another sheet within the same workbook.

The functionality is offered within the Ribbon tool as a menu Copy Table within the ribbon group Table with its options, Copy Table / Paste Table. (SAP Roadmap Explorer) (Video)

This function is not supported when:

  • Pasting tables to another workbook
  • Pasting to another platform (e.g. from Excel desktop to Excel online)
  • Pasting to another application (e.g. from Excel to PowerPoint)

Please note that this feature will be released in June 2022.

Pop-up of a Support Prompt

Users can now design workbooks with prompt screens to define restrictions on the data set displayed. Prompts can be used for individual tables or a whole workbook. (SAP Roadmap Explorer) (Video)

      Hello Megan Hoy,

I am trying to configure SAP Analytics Cloud for SAP Clout Platform Integration (Neo) and and SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Foundry). But, I couldn't be able to configure multiple Instances (Test, Prod etc.) to SAC.

Can you clarify if this is possible or not?

      Regards,

      Naresh

Hi Naresh Dasika i think you would have more success asking this question directly in the SAC forum SAP Analytics Cloud | SAP Community

from my side, i'm not quite sure i understand your question - why are you connecting SAC to Integration suite - is it for the "Open Connectors" functionality? I can't think of any other use-case to do so.

because typically SAC would be connecting to a datasource, like a HANA database running on Cloud Platform (BTP).

      Regards,

      H

      Hello Henry Banks,

Thanks for suggestion. I have already posted this question on SAP Analytics Cloud community before posting here.

Intention of Integrating SAC with SAP CPI/Integration Suite is to get analytics of messages (Success/Failed) processed between different Upstream and Downstream apps via SAP CPI/Integration Suite.

      Regards,
      Naresh
