The employee lifecycle is full of transition points, including joining as a new employee, moving into a new role within the organization, and departing from the company. Each of these transitions require a mix of people, programs, and processes that work together to ensure a positive experience for the employee and an efficient experience for those supporting. Using SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding and  SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central together offers a variety of benefits that span across onboarding, crossboarding, and offboarding.

Let’s take a deeper look into the benefits of using SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central.

Shared Architecture/Users: Core HR systems are typically the system of record for most organizational, position, job, and compensation objects. SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding shares the same foundation objects as SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, enabling fields from the position to be automatically mapped for the onboarding process. This eliminates manual data inputs for HR, hiring managers, and new joiners, helping to accelerate the process while reducing human error. In addition, real-time employee synchronization eliminates the need for data replications and imports/exports.

New Hire Conversion: Once your candidate accepts the offer, an integration between SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting and SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding allows your team to initiate onboarding of the new hire from the candidate pipeline in Recruiting. Required forms are pre-populated with key information, such as start date, pay rate, and position details, helping to ensure accuracy and accelerate the process. Once the data review is completed, the new hire data is reflected within SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and a new employee ID is automatically created.

Offboarding: Whether supporting voluntary leavers, terminations, or lay-offs, the offboarding process is critical to ensuring a positive experience for all involved. SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding provides offboarding capabilities, including an offboarding dashboard and task list, knowledge transfer plans, asset tracking, and offboarding feedback surveys (via SAP Qualtrics Employee Lifecycle). Offboarding programs are only supported when SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is being used as the Core HR system and is triggered by a business rule based on termination reason.

Crossboarding: As internal hires move into their new roles, it’s important to ensure a smooth transition – from a HR, manager, and internal hire perspective. SAP SuccessFactors provides crossboarding capabilities including a dashboard, task list, email notifications, and crossboarding feedback surveys (via SAP Qualtrics Employee Lifecycle). Crossboarding programs are only supported when SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is being used as the Core HR system and is triggered by a business rule based on transfer event reason.
