On April 21 & 22 the Q-Summit took place at the renowned University of Mannheim. Along with PwC, SAP was a flagship partner of the event, giving the SAP Next-Gen team the opportunity to attend an onsite event in Germany.

Organized by a set of students who are currently enrolled at the University of Mannheim, the Q-Summit is an insightful conference for entrepreneurship and innovation. With over 1000 participants, it is the biggest conference at the University of Mannheim, connecting entrepreneurial minds and fostering start-up ecosystems. The event welcomed students, start-ups, and well as top-tier investors to participate in various activities, such as workshops, panels, pitch-battles, multiple networking events and many more. The key focus was set on the art of AI, the revolution of mobility, and equality in business.

Throughout the two-day event the SAP Next-Gen team hosted the SAP booth at the event’s Innovillage, surrounded by a variety of companies, as well as multiple start-ups. Students had the chance to ask questions, network and gain more knowledge on SAP and the respective opportunities it presents to them. Additionally, there was an exclusive Student Speeddating event, which took place on day one. Hiring managers from SAP were connected with students, who had the chance to be interviewed for positions within the SAP ecosystem. Day one of the event was completed by a workshop hosted by Katrin Redmann and Malte Westers, which dealt with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how everyone can contribute to it.

The second day of the event was kicked off by a Networking Brunch hosted by SAP. Inviting a variety of corporate partners and start-ups, the brunch connected peers and gave participants the opportunity to network with external counterparts while enjoying great food and coffee. Additionally, the E-Learning, Mentorship, and Graduate Recruitment platform Gradguide gave a speech, explaining how they bridge the employment gap between college and company. The start-up connects early talents with industry-leading companies, hiring for entry-level jobs in Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany.

The Q-Summit’s key topics were mirrored in SAP speeches held by Katrin Lehmann (SVP and Head of Customer Innovation & Maintenance at SAP SE) and Stefan Batzdorf (Head of Cross Product Architecture & Chief Technology Officer SAP S/4HANA, SAP SE), informing all interested participants about SAP’s work on the use of AI in business software, new innovations, as well as the importance and relevance of diversity and inclusion. The speeches completed the insightful experience Q-Summit presented to its participants, and formed the perfect ending to a notably insightful event.

Q-Summit understands itself as an event to share ideas and insights, ignite action and unite a community of doers. It never fails to amaze us how much we can create when working together. We would like to thank the Q-Summit team for delivering such an amazing event, which went beyond our expectations. We would also like to thank all SAP colleagues who attended the event and shared their experiences, best-practices and knowledge with the next generation.
