In H2 2021 the first iteration of milestone awards was released, introducing Service Milestones to recognise employee tenure by one of the available standard employment dates.  To learn more about configuring service milestone awards, follow this Knowledge Base Article. 

In H1 2022, we follow this up with the first automated milestone life event awards to recognise employee birthdays.  This enhancement provides a better way to manage and automate rewards for employee birthdays reducing the manual workload on system administrators.

Pre-Requisites for Birthday Awards:

  • Points based programs are enabled and permissioned

  • Milestone award programs are permissioned

  • Employee Central is enabled

  • Standard Date of Birth field is populated with employee data


Configure Birthday Awards:

To configure birthday awards, create a new milestone program with the Milestone Type as Life Event and the Life Event Type as Birthday.  Define the eligibility group and configure the values applicable for the countries/regional subgroups as required.


When the configuration is complete, make sure you activate the program on the Manage Milestone Award Programs page.


Once the program is activated, birthday awards will automatically be triggered when the milestone job runs in provisioning (typically at 12am data centre time).

Similar to the milestone service awards, using document generator, administrators can configure email notifications to be sent to the employee automatically on receipt of the birthday award.

The points can then be redeemed through one of the supported redemption partners.

Birthday awards are the first of the Milestone Life Event awards to be delivered further automating the reward and recognition processes and adding to the automated service milestone awards already available.
