RITA allows a single legal entity to perform indirect taxation in multiple countries without setting up a permanent establishment. The blog post will be a 3 parts series with the below topics covered.

  1. Migrating and Activating RITA: Part 1
  2. Migrating and Activating RITA: Part 2
  3. Sample Use Case: Part 3

Migrating and Activating RITA: Part 1

In Part1 of the series, we will discuss how to perform the necessary migration which is needed as a prerequisite for running RITA.

All steps are to be performed in all systems and in sequence and the roles needed to carry the steps are GL Accountant and BPC Expert.

Step 1.

App: Activate RITA and Maintain Tax Registration Countries/Regions

Role: Configuration Expert.

Add the company code that needs to be migrated and set the status to 1 Migration initiated ( but not yet started). Other statuses are set in various phases, which we will see further.

Note: Only status 1 is initially set up manually, and, status change from 4 to 5 is done manually rest all status changes happen automatically.

Once the status is set to 1, the GL accountant runs the migration job in simulation.

Step 2.

App: Schedule Tax Jobs

Role: GL Accountant

Once the simulation is successfully run, without any error logs. Now run the actual run. After successful completion of migration job the status, like mentioned earlier, automatically change to 4 else it changes to status 3.

Now the system is ready for customization we can set up and test, at this point we can even undo the migration for RITA.

Note: Please bear in mind, once we are sure of the functionality we have to manually set to status 5 and raise an incident under component FI-GL-GL-F to set the status to Active. Once set to active it cannot be undone.
