If you are like me, you like to understand things in detail. I am not saying that theory is not important, I am saying that theory should always be backed up by evidence, ie. by details.

And that is the point of our new SAP Integration Suite Hands-On Workshop: get your hands dirty with implementing a theoretical architecture blueprint!

Overview

As you may recall, I have explained the implementation of a Digital Integration Hub on SAP BTP before. The SAP Integration Suite Hands-On Workshop gives you the opportunity to do it yourself, in a guided way.

Basically we will focus on a specific use case described below.

The workshop is delivered as a virtual meeting by experienced professionals who can respond to specific question during the workshop. The hands-on documents are guiding your through different steps and will explain many aspects in detail.

Just be aware that this workshop is not a complete training, but more a "guided discovery" so you can get a glimpse of what you/your organisation could achieve by using the SAP BTP services.

Prerequisites

To attend, you only need to be a little knowledgeable about HTTP, APIs, Integration in general. It's also good if you like to play around using graphical web tools.

The really good news is that you really do not need to prepare anything upfront. No cloud registration, no credit card number, no software download, ... easy as it should be!

Agenda

Because we know that our customers and partners are very busy, we have split the workshop into 2 parts, each of them lasting for around 3 hours (with a break!).

The workshop takes place on 2 consecutive days, in the morning: the afternoon is free for mails, meetings and operational work.

Here is a typical agenda of a workshop session:

So what's in it for you?

First of all, we are using the Digital Integration Hub (DIH) architecture-blueprint as target architecture. The implementation of this blueprint helps to deliver high-throughput, responsive and reliable APIs while minimizing the workload hitting systems of record. In other words: reach digital agility without disruption. I already discussed here how that was feasible with the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

But before going into the implementation, it is good to do some preliminary analysis. This is what we have done by using the SAP Solution Advisory Methodology.

The SAP Integration Solution Advisory Methodology (ISA-M) helps you to define and execute a holistic integration strategy for your organisation, which can cover SAP and third-party integration technologies. For the DIH - and subsequently this workshop - we have identified 4 integration styles of the ISA-M:

  • Data Integration

  • API Layer

  • Process Integration

  • Eventing

These 4 integration styles can be implemented using specific SAP Integration services of the SAP BTP.

Hence the target architecture, and end-result for the participant, looks like the following:

As you can see, each exercise relates to one specific integration style.

How to get there?

For now, this SAP Integration Suite Hands-On Workshop is available for German-speaking folks (prospects, customers, partners, students, ...) but we are in the process of scaling this out to the rest of the world.

To attend, simply register on our webinar page:

In case you are interested in having a "private" session for your developer or integration team, feel free to contact your sales rep!

Last words

Building, maintaining and enhancing such a workshop takes time. For now we have hands-on exercises for Process Integration and API Layer, and are working on having the Data Integration part be ready soon. However, during the workshop, you get to see all the integration styles in action, no worries there!

Looking forward to maybe meet you in the workshop!
