SAP BW Bridge: New Features in Q1 2022
After a successful release of the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP BW bridge for general availability in November 2021, we already have the first new features ready. The new release has been shipped with SAP BTP ABAP Environment Release 2202 on February 19th – 20th 2022.
The new release contains three main features:
- Transfer Tool for Shell conversion from SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA to the SAP BW bridge
- Allow Upload of Currency Exchange Rates via BW Modeling Tools
- Enable Replication of DataSource Metadata for Source Systems in BW Modeling Tools
Transfer Tool for Shell conversion
Transferring data models from SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP BW bridge is now possible via Shell Conversion. It can be used to transfer metadata such as DataStore objects, InfoObjects, transformations, DTPs, and process chains.
It does not include the transfer of existing data sets, but that is planned for a later release. After the metadata transfer, you can load data from the original source systems, the SAP BW system, or the SAP BW/4HANA system.
The Shell Conversion is available for SAP BW 7.3x, 7.40, and 7.50 and for SAP BW/4HANA 2021.

Allow Upload of Currency Exchange Rates and Global Settings
You use this function to upload exchange rates for currencies from other SAP systems into the TCURR table in your BW bridge system via the BW Modeling Tools.
You can also use two new process types (Other BW Processes – Upload Customizing and Other BW Processes – Synch Exchange Rates) in your process chains to regularly update customizing settings and exchange rates from SAP source systems.
DataSource Metadata Replication for Source Systems
You can create source systems from the BW Modeling Tools and call various source system functions. One of them is for replicating DataSources. Now you can replicate the DataSources via the context menu for the source system or the application component in the BW Modeling Tools. You can also replicate an individual DataSource from the context menu for a DataSource.
