The shift from bricks to clicks has accelerated at an unprecedented rate, as the COVID-19 pandemic precipitated a much less predictable supply chain and a much greater reluctance to shop in-store due to long lineups and fears of contagion.

At SAP S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud and Quote to Cash, these circumstances have pushed the priority of the Intelligent Store from a matter of convenience to one of absolute necessity.  To accelerate this innovation, I’m thrilled to announced a partnership between Trigo and SAP S/4HANA Consumer Industry Cloud to build this future together.  Trigo specializes in accelerating the digitization of physical store spaces through a truly AI-powered infrastructure.

Join me for this deeper dive with Michael Gabay, Founder and Co-CEO from Trigo:

One of the innovations we're really excited about is introducing seamless checkout to the Intelligent Store.  For sure, the pandemic has increased retailers' demand for BOPIS (buy online, pick up in-store) and curbside pickup, which features the versatility of the digital shopping experience.  Either way, those two models still involve face-to-face contact with a sales representative to authenticate the purchaser and hand over the goods.  And not everybody's comfortable with that right now.  Or, in some cases where retailers experience peak volume, it's just really hard to staff a workforce split between serving in-store shoppers while simultaneously fulfilling online orders.  With seamless checkout, however, we're talking about a whole next level of experience.  We're talking no self-checkouts.  No scanning or weighing.  No lineups.  Just walk in, get what you need, and walk out.

As the pandemic continues to apply pressure on points of sale, on the demand and fulfillment of essential goods, and on individual consumers and employees, rest assured that help is on its way.

Another essential evolution of the Intelligent Store will put an end to the physical inventory count.  This global pandemic has been really difficult for larger retailers using legacy, on-premise software only capable of performing inventory updates during off-peak periods.  These older systems were designed during a time when the idea of generating demand signals and making temporary stock reservations based on real-time shopping cart decisions was a total fantasy.  Our Intelligent Store will put an end to that with the implementation of a perpetual inventory system that is always on, accounting for the most minute changes in inventory availability, as they happen in real-time.  This particular innovation is so important as physical stores evolve into fulfillment centers capable of satisfying customers purchases from any channel.

There's much more to come as SAP S/4HANA Consumer Industries Cloud continues to build out the Intelligent Store.  As the pandemic continues to apply pressure on points of sale, on the demand and fulfillment of essential goods, and on individual consumers and employees, rest assured that help is on its way.
