Release Highlights

Enterprise Planning

Week Granularity and Flexible Modeling for Time Dimensions

For the new model, time dimensions can now be customized and enriched with week granularity to meet company-specific fiscal calendar requirements for reporting and planning.

This comes with several enhancements in various areas of SAP Analytics Cloud:

  • Date dimensions can now leverage and store data on week granularity

    • Includes predefined week patterns like 445/454/544 or 13x4. Week patterns can then be uniquely assigned to specific months or periods for accurate aggregation.

    • Includes 53rd week support by which the system will automatically add a 53rd week depending on the week pattern chosen, to accommodate the few days that are left in a standard year.

  • New/additional editing capabilities in the modeler that allow for time dimension and modeling including:

    • Date members editing and special periods definition.

    • Creation of custom date properties and custom date hierarchies.

Furthermore, time dimension customization enables more use cases for planning and analytical scenarios including the ability to create fiscal year variants, exclude certain days in business calendars (e.g. without weekends), adjustment bookings with special periods, and many more.

Cut & Paste in Mass Data Entry Mode

Cut & paste is now supported in Mass Data Entry Mode. Users can now cut & paste values in one go, rather than manually copying, pasting, then cutting values in a step-by-step process.

Please note that cut parent and paste to child is not supported.

Analytics Design

Exporting Custom Widgets to PDF

Custom widgets can now be exported to PDF. Custom widgets can be included in the PDF export list via Export to PDF technical component configuration or can be set to the included widget list per script APIs. As a pre-requisite, the custom widgets developer must set supportsExport to true in the JSON file and ensure the custom widget can support SAP Analytics Cloud PDF support.

Exporting External Images to PDF

External images that require authentication can now be exported to PDF by adding URL parameter imageCrossOrigin=useCertifications. As a pre-requisite, the analytics designer needs to set allow cross domain http header as default setting on the image server.

Data Exploration

Data Source Description Display as Table Title

Data analyzer will now show a friendly table title by displaying the data source description as the table title, instead of the technical ID. This is for SAP BW and SAP HANA sources only.

Analytics Cataloging

Easier Access to Catalog Publishing Workflow

Users with permission to publish content to the catalog can now manage access directly from the catalog card details.  The new “Manage” button on the catalog card makes it easier for users to publish a resource to the catalog as they no longer need to search for a resource in “My Files”. Instead, the publishing dialog can be opened directly from the catalog card and users can easily add or remove teams to publish the resource for.
