Since December 7th 2021, Document Translation Service, the machine translation module from SAP Translation Hub, is available in XTM Cloud. XTM Cloud is the next-generation localization management technology, increasing enterprise productivity through advanced workflow management and intelligent automation. This is the first external integration of SAP Translation Hub into a non-SAP product. By joining forces with a cloud-based translation management system, users can set SAP Translation Hub as their machine translation provider, thus offering the possibility to any XTM or SAP customers to embed SAP’s own machine translation proposals, optimized on industry, enterprise software-related texts, into XTM’s powerful editing workflows.
Besides, when you consume SAP Translation Hub as an SAP Business Technology Platform service, it offers more than just a machine translation API, such as the possibility to easily edit UI text from property files, Fiori and ABAP apps and get SAP-specific proposals from the Multilingual Text Repository.
Enabling Document Translation in XTM is very easy. You need to select SAP Translation Hub as your machine translation provider and enter your credentials. In order to get such credentials, you need to enable Document Translation service in SAP Business Technology Platform, for which you will need an account. You can use the free tier available in enterprise accounts. Free tier is now also available for individual users, combined with a Pay-as-you-go account, which makes it much easier to try not only Document Translation, but any other interesting services you find in SAP Business Technology Platform.
